Well I held out for a long time for a new bike. My last new bike purchase was in 1978. I would have gladly bought a new Interstate Valkyrie but none in plans from mother Honda. I did stay loyal to the brand though and nothing but black will do for me. I found a brand new in the crate 2006 ST1300 and we picked it up Saturday at 4:30 in Shawnee Oklahoma. We rode out to Tucumcari New Mexico to visit with the fine folks out there Sunday and then we came back home to Kansas today.

The new bike is broke in good with 4 states and 879 miles in less than 48 hours. I made room in the garage and she's safe asleep next to the Black Valkyries.

It's nice to have choices when we ride and now I do.

Later all,

Raymond

I had a 2006 ST for 1.5 years , put  10K on  her , best bike I ever owned , sooooooo smooth  .
Before my ST , I had  a BMW RT  1100  , put  4K miles  on her in 1.5 years  , that should tell you how nice the ST is .
However  , just wait till   you have to pass a big truck going in the same direction  , will scare the crap out of you ,

Done that 50 times now already. I-40 is full of trucks. I keep reading this but all I can say is you guys need to ride a KLR650 for a while. That bike swims bad over 75. The ST just gives a little wiggle when I go around trucks.

I haven't ridden one, but was concerned about seating position being 6'3".  I bet it doesn't take long to get around those trucks though.  cooldude

I traded my ST1100 in for the Valkyrie.  The ST was a great bike, especially for touring but the vibration from the V4 engine put the three fingers on my right hand to sleep.  It turned out that it was my problem.  The next owner put over 20,000 miles on it in one year with no problem.  The beginning of arthritis, worse today but the Valk is easy on it.

I never had a problem with passing trucks but the ST was affected by crosswinds some.

the st1100 i have is the best bikei ve owned. iwas looking for a1300 when i fond the valk last year.the valk was a lot cheaper and convinced my wife. she does not like to ride 2-up on the st its too fast. now ican go as fast on the valk and she does not really mind, only when i accelerate and she hears the f6 graowl does she get nervous .both the st and the valk are relaxing in the garage exchanging ideas about tires or octane fuel and cosumption--- thy re friends. enjoy the road.

I've put a few thousand on the spousal unit's ST1300, and haven't had any problems with stability at high speeds, passing trucks, etc... My wife says it's HORRIBLY effected by cross winds, but I've attributed that to her relative small amount of riding experience...

For what it's worth, I'm 6'7" and can ride the St1300 without a problem. Hers was pre farkled with (Among MANY other things) lowered foot pegs and a riser though...

Great looking bike, I was seriously looking at this and a FJR, to get into sport touring.  I decided on the Concours 14 when it came out just because I already had a ZX14 and its a great bike.  I have farkled it a little, riser blocks for the bars, Buel Uylisis pegs for more leg room, Cee Bailey Euro cut shield, Corbin seat and Smuggler trunk.  Used my ZX stock header and put on a set of C/F duals, removed the secondary butterflies from the throttle bodies and added a PC, and the farkling goes on.  Any one of the three are fantastic bikes, and if anyone has never ridden one they should try it out.

Being as its already Silver I have been thinking of a paint job similar to this ZX14.
