The teacher said, "Let's begin by reviewing some American History. Who said 'Give me Liberty , or give me Death'?" She saw a sea of blank faces, except for Little Akio, a bright foreign exchange student from Japan , who had his hand up: "Patrick Henry, 1775," he said. "Very good! -- Who said, 'Government of the People, by the People, for the People, shall not perish from the Earth'?" Again, no response except from Little Akio: "Abraham Lincoln, 1863."
"Excellent!" said the teacher continuing, "Let's try one a bit more difficult -- Who said, 'Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country'?" Once again, Akio's was the only hand in the air and he said: "John F. Kennedy, 1961." The teacher snapped at the class, "Class, you should be ashamed of yourselves, Little Akio isn't from this country and he knows more about our history than you do." She heard a loud whisper: "F_ _ k the Japs." "Who said that? -- I want to know right now!? she angrily demanded. Little Akio put his hand up, "General MacArthur, 1945." At that point, a student in the back said, "I'm gonna puke.'
The teacher glares around and asks, 'All right! -- Now who said that?" Again, Little Akio says, "George Bush to the Japanese Prime Minister, 1991." Now furious, another student yells, "Oh yeah? -- Suck this!" Little Akio jumps out of his chair waving his hand and shouts to the teacher, "Bill Clinton, to Monica Lewinsky, 1997!" Now with almost mob hysteria someone said, "You little crap! -- If you say anything else -- I'll kill you!" Little Akio frantically yells at the top of his voice, "Michael Jackson to the children testifying against him, 2004." The teacher fainted. As the class gathered around the teacher on the floor, someone said, "Oh crap, We're screwed!" Little Akio said quietly, "The American people, November 4, 2008."

Looks like a few have been added since I 1st saw this.
But they all make sense. Some at the end more than others farther up.

Ask yourself, are you better off than you were four years ago.
Let's see, fuel was cheaper, my former job was still needing to be filled and I was earning about four times as much as now. Hope and Change I can believe in, not so much.

I assume that's the same American people who couldn't answer the previous questions. sounds logical.

Amazing how deficit spending suddenly turned evil in 2008. Of course the right claims these estimates don't take into account the magical/mythical revenue surge from lowering taxes. You remember that. Ronald Regan called it trickle down. His economic adviser at the time called it "voodoo economics." Under one president we instituted warrantless wire taps, suspended Habeas Corpus for war time detainees, allowed the federal government to tap US citizens, and ignored our obligations as a signatory to the Geneva convention. Another president instituted a health care policy. It's amazing which one is accused of taking away freedom.

facts are stubborn things and you are ignoring a few. yes Bush spent way too much. Obama has tripled down. Obama has to hurry if he's going to cut the deficit in half like he promised. we still aren't seeing 6% unemployment, like he promised after he got stimulus. oh and the deficit would have to be cut down to 5 trillion to keep the promise he made, not half of what it is now. one thing about the CBO if you give them crap numbers in you get crap number out, hence the graph... at this point in Reagan's first term the GDP was at 6%, want to compare GDP numbers right now? Ronnie cut the top marginal rate in half which increased the taxes the treasury recieved. how'd that happen? we had more tax payers, more people were employed and along came the decadent 80's. this isn't rocket science no matter what the "smart ones" try to tell you. keep trying to tell us it's bush's fault, we're almost buying it.

Yes indeed. Ronald Reagan was able to jump start the economy with an influx of cash by deficit spending, tripling the national debt and creating, at that time a record, 2.8 trillion dollar deficit. The bills for his economic recovery were paid by the following administration who left us with the first balanced budget and surplus since the second world war. A deficit which disappeared in less than three years under George W Bush. And without the lively economy that Reagan at least had to show for the money spent. Can't imagine why anybody would blame him.

and he was pretty much the lone conservative in DC, Tip and the boys promised a 2 to1 reduction in spending for every dollar tax increase the Ronnie agreed to. so the tax increase happened and Tip reneges on the deal. typical. Clinton shifted back to the center (he really was a moderate to begin with, look at his record in Arkanas) after the mid term elections. ya know when Newt and the boys took over. spending and appropriations come from the house, which at the time hadn't been in Repulican control for 40 years. show me one state or city that has not been taken over by rot and decay in Democrat hands?

This is kind of a Non Sequitur observation. I'm not aware of any objective data that could be used to analyze this. If you're suggestion there were no slums or ghettos during Republican administrations, I'd have to disagree. Every State and every city has sections that prosper and parts that decline in every year. At this point, I've said my piece. This will be my last post on this thread. You're not changing my mind and I don't have any expectation of changing yours. Even though I disagree with your conclusions, I applaud your obvious knowledge of recent important events. It's apparent your opinions are based on study and thought rather that knee jerk reactions. I suspect our differing conclusions are based more on core beliefs than the data set we've been exposed to. I'd encourage others to take us both with a grain of salt, do their own research and share their observations.
