Grabbed our worthless rag they call a newspaper off the porch this morning and read about 2 bikers from Iowa and another 2 from Minnesota had been killed in head on collisions this weekends.........   Different accidents.

We lost a total of 9 people in Iowa, Minnesota lost 12.

When I was working, I always hated the Memorial Day weekend and also the Labor Day one............

It was kind of like people were just learning to drive on Memorial Day and couldn't wait to get to their destination.  On Labor Day they wanted to get in that last bit of Vacation before winter set in.

I know at times it is hard to do, but, be safe and wise in your riding decisions and tactics.........

5 of those in MN were in my county,,,, hope the count is over, still 4 VERY critical,, one a bike that hit the median curb here in town. Went for a ride Sunday , had several squeeze into our group of 11. Went for a short ride Monday and wound up helping at an accident  north of town were a clown crossed into oncoming 4 lane (RJ you understand about not driving by these things). I drove home after that one, ALOT of stupid out this weekend.

The idiocy started around here long before the weekend...Friday saw me almost get into three (count 'em) accidents; two going to work and one coming home. People were driving with their heads up their azzes, plain and simple.

OHP needn't sit on the highway to make their ticket quotas via speeders...parking near on and off-ramps then citing hazardous/reckless operation would more than suffice.

what i've seen most of those accidents are caused by inexpierienced riders that have machines that are too powerful for their own good.  young riders that get a rush from the power, yes, i'm just as guilty.  i've found myself pushing the limit several times.

Alph, none of the 4 I listed were young and none of them were on Crotch Rockets.

BOTH accidents, the other vehicle crossed the center line and took out the bikes head on..........

Sorry RJ, didn't know that.  here in WI this last weekend we had a 19 year old that tried to outrun the police, couldn't take the corner, crossed center line and hit the guard rail.

every year you hear of kids trying to ditch the cops this way, sometimes they do.

yeah, i know, these things suck.  i would hate to be an EMT.  couldn't pay me enough.

Two Killed and four injured in Elburn, Illinois

I copied information from the News article and pasted it  below...

Wade and Denise Thomas of St. Charles were among a group of motorcyclists who were riding on Route 47 at Smith Road at about 8:30 a.m. Saturday when they collided with a car that had been knocked into their lane of traffic. The couple was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The four motorcyclists who were injured are Norman Turner, 49, of North Aurora; Mike D. Leather, 34, of Lisle, and his passenger, Nichole Buschman, 26, of Lisle, who all were treated at Delnor Hospital in Geneva; and Jerome Bozonelos, 51, of Aurora, who was airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. Bozonelos remained in critical condition Tuesday.

Police said their initial investigation found that the Cadillac and Anderson's Honda Civic were stopped on Route 47 waiting to turn onto Smith Road when Bernard's Toyota Solara crashed into the rear of the Honda. The collision knocked the Honda into the group of motorcyclists in the opposite lane, police said.

Bernard was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident."
