"Velocity stacks" have been around for almost as long as the internal combustion engine.

You guys who are complaining are idiots really. That someone is out to make a buck? Seriously? He is not defrauding anyone. Is there a patent on the term "Velocity Stacks"? Just because Aeromach makes something they call "Velocity Stacks" and Add On makes something THEY call "Velocity Stacks" do they have a patent on the name? How come you aren't bitching about Add On making "Velocity Stacks"? He used the term custom velocity stacks. In my mind that is a reference to where they are placed on the bike. What else is he supposed to call them? Filters from Autozone that are fake (like velocity stacks) that fit on top of your carb covers that you can get somewhere else cheaper? Obviously none of you whiners (Paxton excluded) should be shopping on Ebay or in our own classifieds. Get a life! If you were selling something, you would take whatever some idiot was willing to give you!

RANT OVER!

Chillerman, you're right, the seller did nothing wrong per se.  He could have priced a pencil for $10,000 and if someone is willing to pay that, that's on the buyer.  Buyer beware.  Paxton's at fault because he didn't research it before he pulled the trigger.  Paxton knows it, admitted the same and isn't complaining...

HOWEVER....

Don't you think if we know someone who is way over-inflating the price of something for our Valks, we have a duty to our fellow members to make them aware of that over-inflation so they don't make the same mistake?  I appreciate info like that and I think most other members do too.  Additionally, complaints about this seller has worked, in that he has done what most consider to be the right thing, which is offering a full refund to unsatisfied buyers.  I applaud the seller for doing that, which he in no way had to do.   cooldude

I have no problem with people pointing out that you can get these filters somewhere else cheaper, but why beat up the guy for selling them?

I don't think anyone's disputing that. I think people have an issue with the crybaby, butthurt whining and name calling because someone is practicing capitalism. As long as the buyer is getting what is advertised then there's nothing illegal or shady about what the seller is doing. You and I are both free to sell anything for any amount we want. Anyone remember the term FREE MARKET?

What's funny about this is that one of the few people NOT crying like a bitch in this thread is the guy who paid too much for them.

Good on you Paxton for owning up to doing something less than smart instead of trying to blame someone else for your failure to pay attention. It's not as everyone here hasn't done it at one time or another. Like you said; you win some, you lose some. . . .

* * *

FWIW, I also have the utmost respect for Paxton.  It's like karma, I'm sure you'll get it back 10 fold.

Well Chillerman,  it wouldn't be patent infringement.  It would be copyright infringement.  For example, if you produced a carbonated cola beverage and called it Coca Cola or Coke, the Coca Cola Corporation would hit you with a Cease and Desist Order so fast it would set your hair on fire.   You would be using their copyrighted name.

Marty

Well X Ring, here are a few examples of things that are called velocity stacks.

http://www.velocity-of-sound.com/
http://www.velocitystacksonline.com/
http://www.nextag.com/VELOCITY-STACK-CHROME-1268677691/prices-html?nxtg=9c30a1c0529-CE5A9714623BD777
http://www.bkrider.com/bkrider/SKUSearch.asp?px=NT&scriteria=C01002127
http://www.rossmachineracing.com/velocitystacks.html

So take your copyright infringment and shove it!  Evil

That's really sad.  You can't discuss something without making a personal attack.  Maybe you need to go revisit the CoC.

What's sad is your and others personal attack on this guy selling something people are willing to buy. He deserves an apology.

Tank, you beat me to it.  I just saw the crook's post over in the classifieds.  He must think we're real idiots.

Marty

ETA:  Since this guy is an eBay retailer, I sent Scott and Willow a PM informing them of this guy's violation of Classified Rules prohibiting commercial retailers and notifying them of this thread.  I also notified Aeromach of this guy possibly infringing on their copyright by using the name of their product.

I hate it when people can't see past their own noses.

What is legal, may still not be ethical.

We each draw that line somewhere different.

Wait, you mean to say you wouldn't set your by-it-now price higher than you know something is worth in hopes that someone will bite? That's all he's really done isn't it?

No, I probably would not.  But that's me.  Please take note I am not one of the people crucifying the guy.

I also don't try to make money off of someones else's back.  I tend to try to make my living helping people out.  Giving an honest effort for my clients best interests. There doesn't HAVE to be a loser.

My line and your line are obviously not the same.  Neither is right or wrong.  For me, it's not worth it to screw a guy for $100.  Not for $10 nor for $1,000,000.

Actually he did that 3 hours after posting his ad.  In addition, if he hadn't posted that his no refund policy on his ebay ad would have stood.

Well put, and I wasn't lumping you in with the others. I know that if I was listing my Standard on Ebay I would probably  set a buy-it-now price of 9 or 10 grand even though it may not be worth that much. It's not ripping someone off if that's what they are willing to pay, and they can always put in a bid that is lower. Buy-it-now just assures they will get it.

I'd be honored to share a beer with you sometime, Paxton. I think you've shown a few on this board that you're a throwback to the days when a handshake set a deal in stone. You even had the chance to "opt out" of the deal by the seller and didn't. I hope you enjoy the "stacks/filters". Now let's see those pics! Grin

Thanks for those that brought my attention to this product. I got some of them today for $60 for 10ea.
I put 4 of them on. Anyone have any ideas on how to put the other 2 on. I like the looks but I am not going to cut my pods. I am thinking on using a dremel tool to cut them out around the pods.
