This was on my I/S when I bought it a year and a half ago. I've been fighting rust on it ever since. Last week I read on the internet that white vinegar will remove rust so last night I removed it and wrapped it in shop towels soaked in vinegar. Good news is it did remove the rust. The light surface rust just wiped off; however, in the corners where the tubes are welded together, the chrome is gone and base metal is visible. I've been wanting to replace the rack for a while but I don't know who made it. In addition, I'm leery of trying to buy another style as I don't know if the mounting point spacing will be the same and I don't want any more holes in the trunk lid. Mounting point spacing is: Between front points: 14 13/16" Between rear points: 10 7/8" Front to back: 8 1/2" %20(640x379).jpg) TIA, Marty

Yep, just like mine.....Same problem. I think I got it from Show Chrome Edit///After looking at it closer, It does not look exactly like mine. Yours is shaped a little different on the part that goes up the backrest. I still think it's Show Chrome, just a different model or older.

That's the problem there's a bunch that look identical. Talked with Kury and they said it sounds like their 7150 1500 Wing Rack. Guy in Tech Support gave me the mounting point dimensions and they're within 1/4" which could be a manufacturing variance. Add On's looks like it also and again mounting points are within a fraction of an inch also. It's maddening. Can you measure yours for me? I sent an email to Big Bike Parts but haven't heard from them.

Just have it rechromed then it's fixed, I had to replace one and it was a strech to get it to fit, I dont think their quality control is that great so getting a new one and making it fit may be a problem.

I have one like that. I have seen a number of others. OEM is smaller.
Bought used, but I believe Show Chrome.

ShowChrome's plating leaves a lot to be dersired. However they are cheap enough to have them replated. Remember even if yo don't replate,...run a tap through the mounting holes. The internal threads are known to be "less than perfect".

Decided I'm going to replace it with either Kury or Add On when Directline Parts has their Memorial Day Sale in a couple of weeks. Both of their mounting point dimensions are within a fraction of an inch. I'm a member of Directline's Buying Club so I'll get a better price plus another 10% off. I could conceivably buy the rack for $70.

Had the same rust problem on saddlebag lid racks. Cleaned up the rust. Went out and got a Dupli-Color touch up kit. Quicksilver 262 Subaru. You have to look real hard to see any difference. Low cost fix and no new holes. Fuzzy

You could have it stripped and powdercoated to match your trunk. A unique and different approach.
