Hi. Just bought a 99 F6 Standard, and I've noticed that the engine coolant temperature light on the gauges does not light up when the key is turned on. The oil pressure light and the kick stand light both light up to confirm they are working, but the temp warning light does not.

Is it suppose to? If so, any opinions on if it is simply a bulb, or the sensor itself?

Thanks!

It is normal, if it lights up the eng is overheating.  Mine has never lit up in the seven years I've owned it.  I'm not going to disconnect the fan to find out if it works.  Grin hoser

Thanks guys. I just thought the light would come on with initial start up to confirm bulb was functional; doesn't sound like it though. Does anyone know of a decent aftermarket set of temp/oil pressure gauges for a Valkyrie?

Go here... www.motosens.com they are a VRCC vendor and give 10% discount to VRCC members.

I put sets on both my Standard (sold) and now my I/S. They are much better than decent and work well with the Valkyrie.

The ones I mounted on my Standard:
