A bad map and a long ride in Northern New Mexico!

I spent most of the day servicing the bike, doing a quick tune-up, carb sync and a good cleaning.   The old girl looks good and runs good.  I even changed the coolant, it was past due, and I figured it was time.

I actually piddled (that is a good descriptive term) with the carbs for a while, I am always curious why this valk does not get the gas mileage my other one did.  As usual, I didn't find anything wrong, and the bike runs and sounds great.

I am curious what kind of vacuum (in. merc) readings some of you get on your base carb.

I started before noon, and finished about 7:00.   Of course, I had to go for a test ride to make sure everything was ok!

Had plenty of entertainment while doing my work.  It seems that an in inmate from an adjacent county broke out yesterday (actually just drove away while on the work program).  They have spent the night looking for him, and today, he has acquired weapons and stolen a motorcycle, couple of cars, and still is in the county.   Last night we had helicopters  flying around over the town.

Of course everytime that someone finds a misplaced stone, they call the sheriff's department with a possible break in.

I was wanting to sneak out for a ride tomorrow, but my wifes family is coming over, so I get to sit around a drink a beer or two with them tomorrow after I clean up the yard....
