Well I finally got around to replacing my tired and pretty much shot shock bushings last night.   Haven't had a chance for a test ride yet but they have got to be better.  I replaced them with the green poly bushings (p/n 52489-HN0-671) to see if they hold up better than the stock rubber ones.....well for $2.50 a piece why not give them a shot.  Guess they were due since the bike has right at 60,500 on the clock and looked to be the originals.....yes they were sort of coming apart at the seams.

Well you tell me if these look like they are whooped Cheesy Cheesy

Stupid question, but do you have to support the weight of the valkyrie with a lift or wooden stick, etc. if you take out 1 shock at a time to replace the bushings?

No. But you do have to lift it off the ground and stretch out the shock to it's full length. You can do one at a time.

I put the bike up on the lift and only pulled one shock at a time.  My little brother came out so I had him help me steady the bike while I was working on the shocks.  I think the worse bolt/end to remove was opposite the final drive on the bottom.  The tops of the shocks were a little stuck on the old worse out bushings but with a little effort they came loose.  Putting them back on wasn't a big problem either which kind of surprised me actually.....had a worse time when I replaced the ones on my vtx.  I think the poly bushings should hold up better than the stock rubber ones did.

http://www.directlineparts.com/product.asp?pid=44477&str=1 <--- P/N 52489-HN0-671  The poly ones.......for $2.50 and free shipping what a deal cooldude

Now I just need to find a little time this afternoon to take her out for a test ride and see if things are a bit better with the new bushings.

Those hardly look broken in yet!!!!!!!!!
Yah right.
Mine are bad too.
Thanks for the part number...

I just use a 2 ton jack with a block of 2x6  to support the center of the swing arm when changing shocks and do 1 side at a time.
With the bike still on the side stand.

Yep, they were used up, and then some.

You're going to really like the difference.
