open up google earth and type in davis-monthan AFB and it will take you the 'aerospace hospice' or 'aerospace death row'. I think they call it the boneyard, here hundreds of warplanes are slowly falling apart. there are more planes sitting then most governments own. F-4, F14s, A-4 Skyhawks, strato bombers, ariel tankers.
the B-52s were chopped up in compliance with the start treaty, chopped how? with a 6 ton guillotine Shocked Shocked Shocked

it's pretty cool check it out....

That is a pretty cool view, but a great example of government waste.  Undecided

They pay servicemen to patrol this area of useless remnants of a bye-gone era.  The B52's were supposed to be scrapped according to the CNN article sourced on the Wikipedia site about the START-1 Treaty.  There's a lot of high-quality material there that could be used to manufacture new equipment for the military, or even sold to other nations either as-is (since it's outdated tech) or shredded and sold.

I'm surprised our current administration hasn't sold the scrap to China. I heard that is where most of the "Cash for Clunker Cars" went.
