Eddie,

You're wrong there! He picked up at least 5 mph going to Fast Black! Plus the bag and trunk are more aero-dynamic, so, faster still. Cheesy Evil Roll Eyes

BF, Bike looks great! Good job. cooldude

After working on this project all winter, I'm thinking seriously about changing my handle from BF to DAMITMAN.  Leaned alot about my wiring and wrenching skills.    Smiley

Did you paint or swap tins?

Oooooh.  I like those.   cooldude

Both, sorta...but swapped.  Had a complete set of black tins, but I had to repaint a couple of them, plus I painted the Woody (it came in black gelcoat).  Just couldn't bring myself to paint over the red & white tins.

That's a nice unit, but it doesn't appear to be a marine radio. Any concerns about it getting wet?  I only ask because I've been looking for a stereo to install in my HD Batwing that I have on order.

No, not really.  I'm not a fan of riding in the rain and will avoid it if at all possible, but I'm in Florida and as in the past, I'll get caught in a downpour from time to time (it's already happened while the bike was still red/white).  The remote is attached with velcro so it's easy to remove quickly.....and it's got a pull down door on the front, plus Glenn provides a rain shield with the Woody that you install over the radio inside the fairing.  It's not waterproof, but it is shielded and I'm not too worried about it.  The stereo was less than a hundred bucks anyway.

A stereo that I can put my mp3 player in was more important to me.

Nope, not Harley, they're Mustang bags.  The best price I found for them on the web was on CruiserCustomizing's site.  Got them for right around $700.  They're a very nice bag.....lined and with good locks.  I'm pretty sure that they are actually the "quick release strong" bags from Tsukayu because they are identical to them......Mustang must contract with them to have their material covered on them.

http://www.tsukayu.com/QuickDetachableStrong.html

You can get them plain or with studs like mine.

http://www.mustangseats.com/Category/Saddlebags-Luggage

Alot of folks seem to mount them using the Easy Brackets (and I read on here from one guy that used his old LeatherLyke bag mounts) but I thought the Easy Brackets would make the bags stick out too far.....and my oem bag rails wouldn't work with them.  So I opted to mount the bags using my old OEM Hondaline leather bags mounts.  You can find them on Directline for around 125 bucks new.  Used ones sometimes pop up on ebay from time to time. I had to mod them a little to make them work.

I painted them at first.  Not the best idea I've ever had.  Ended up stripping the paint off and took them to get powder coated.  Cost me $50 bucks for the powder coat....but it was well worth it.  The powder coat will hold up much better and for far longer.

They make a rock solid mount for the Mustang bags.  The bags are solidly mounted and don't move at all.   cooldude

Yep, that's them.  So far I like them.  They've quieted the exhaust note some, but still has a nice rumble.  Haven't tried riding with my full face helmet yet to test for drone, but I'm expecting good results.
