Well it happened today, I hit a DOE(deer) today around 11:30am and I can't believe I'm still alive. I was doing 65-70 miles an hour and it came out of know where and I T-BONED it and it exploded in front of me. My left hand left the handle bars because of the impact and I all most lost the bike it started to wobble real bad so I grabbed the handle bars and locked my elbows and it came out of it and I was able to get it to the side of the road. The front end is trashed as you can imagine but I actually was able to walk away from it except for jamming my fingers on my left hand, I am fine will send pictures when I get the bike home Tuesday. I think because of the weight of the VALK helped me some what. Will be sure to get pictures when I get he home and update thie week.

Glad you made it out with very minor injury. It could have been a lot worse... Interested in seeing how the Valk faired.

Deer and bikes aren't compatible and will not mix. Good the hear that you are ok, but wait til tomorrow or tuesday and get checked out by a doctor. You've still got some adrenaline running around inside you so things may be a bit different tomorrow.

Sorry to hear this. It is one of those things you have to really watch for in rural areas. In the recent years they are moving towards towns more and more. It was just last week we had a black bear running around. Glad to hear you made it out alright.

WOW...
I saw a deer explode one time when a pickup hit it...it sent a spray or red mist into the air that covered me and every other vehicle that passed through it.
Glad you're ok.

Sorry to hear about your bike but glad to hear your OK. Far too many times those encounters go badly for the rider.
Canton IL eh? Used to have quite a bit of family from there and spent lots of time there as a kid in the 60's and 70's.

Wow...glad it wasn't worse, doodleman. Many yrs ago, someone in the VRCC hit a deer, didn't even know what happened at the time...and later realized they not only hit it, but cut it in half. And they didn't go down either. That's a testament to the Valks, I guess. Glad you're reasonably ok.

Yeah, watch out for those forest rats, especially the flaky whitetails - they are more apt to be unpredictable, than the western mule deer. I killed two muley bucks 6/15/01 at 6:15 pm - 3 hours before dark, with my valk - aka "Deerslayer" now. Knocked their horns off when I T-boned them at 70. The bike survived, though we went down, got some road rash, broken leg, torn ACL & rotator cuff. But coulda been much worse. The Valk is so solid, I repaired it and rode to Inzane in Ohio less than a month later - with a broken leg. I wrote it up on my website - http://www.horseapple.com/placeholder/Boo-boo/boo-boo.html

Wow. Glad you are OK. Guess that's one less deer I have to watch out for....being as I live in Canton IL myself. I had no idea. I live a couple houses away from Jetts Kawasaki on Co. 27.
A friend of mine hit a deer years ago on his HD. Stayed upright and rode to the ER without stopping. When he got there, he shut her down and fell over....due to his shattered leg.

The good Lord was watching over you my friend! I have seen front ends demolished on some cars and am glad you see you made it. I have had some close calls and they can jump across a 2 lane in a nanno second. I know one that hit a dog and killed him. Glad to hear you're ok.

Glad you're ok. I know it can be scary!! That's exacly what happened to me back in 2006....only I hit a fawn at about 60mph. Still, it was about $5000 of damage. Middle of the day, I never saw it until the impact. I didn't go down and rolled to a stop on the shoulder. Two other bikers and their wives, who I didn't know...just happened to have passed them right before the incident, saw it happen and pulled over and checked me out, gave me some water to rinse off, and basically talk my nerves down a bit. Broken windshield, bent forks and fender, highway peg all rotated out of position, covered in everything that deer had eaten that day...I rode it the last 200 miles home from my trip. When I took it to the shop for the estimate, he couldn't believe I rode it the 5 miles or so there.
