A friend and I are going to Alaska this summer and I want to take a satellite locator with me on the trip.  It has an emergency SOS function that helps with a rescue if needed.  Much of the trip through Canada is in areas without cell phone coverage.

The Spot Connect has a real mixed set of reviews on the REI web site.  The Delorme In-Reach application for the iPhone is new so there is not as much information available.

Does anyone have any experience with either of these devices?

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Dave, I've got one but haven't mounted it yet.  I think it's a really good idea.  Go here http://forums.delphiforums.com/n/main.asp?webtag=MCTourer&nav=messages&start=Start+Reading+%3E%3E&prettyurl=%2FMCTourer%2Fmessages%2F%3Fstart%3DStart%2BReading%2B%253E%253E and talk with the guys on the Motorcycle Tourer's Forum.  They seem to have a handle on it especially those that do Iron butt rides and rallies.
