Or at least that's what they want. They have been trying hard for years but now it really sounds possible. The Aussies, Brits, and others know all to well- but now it's too late for them.

I'm like Charleston Heston " they'll have to pry it from my cold dead hands"!!

Why/how do these people think that taking away the legal firearms will even put a dent in the illegal firearms?

The UN has no authority over the US. Just calm the f**k down. Roll Eyes

This is a distraction and plays right into the hands of anti-gun people. Worry about what's happening here.

I sold all of mine to some guy in the parking lot at the gun show. No, didn't get his name, but I did notice an Obama bumper sticker on his car...

The NRA is very concerned about the UN's attempt to influence our 2'nd amendment rights. They (we cooldude) seldom waste money or time on non-threats.

At the bottom is a link to what they've had to say about it lately and what they (we) are doing about it.

Concerning what would happen here if we lost our 2'nd amendment rights. I hope that I'd never be forced into lying about my firearms ownership. Even if I got by with doing so, a firearm that I could never take out of my house, a firearm that I can never again shoot would be worthless. I hope I'd have the courage to stand up for my rights even if I could not possibly win.

But, it's far better to never let things fall to that point. It's far better to preserve our freedom instead of trying to win it back. We are almost alone in the world in allowing citizens the ultimate freedom of firearms ownership and self-defense. American gun owners are the largest armed group on the face of the earth I'm sure. Is it any surprise the UN wants to change that?

When it comes to the 2'nd amendment I hope I will always have the courage to "hold the light high against the darkness" and I hope that each of you will too. Without the NRA and other 2'nd amendment civil rights groups you would have already lost your rights and the darkness which has overtaken much of the world would have overtaken us too.

Thank God for the NRA and others like them! We do take our 2nd amendment for granted and would be a scary thought to lose them.

The City of Detroit has a yearly "gun drive" and pays up to $25.00 for some guns in good condition.

I firmly believe that there are no criminals turning in their firearms.
And I'm willing to believe the guns turned in were bought to protect innocent citizens from home invasions and other sach crimes.

Why criminalize guns?...Lets concentrate on getting the criminals first, then innocent citizens can live without fear.

Gun amnesty programs are a joke. They tell people to turn in their guns for 25 bucks or so, no questions asked. The whole program is a crime in itself. A gang banger turns in the gun he used to kill people and the cops destroy it.

$25? WOW, My ammo costs twice that!  Shocked You are right, it is only law abidding citizens that turn them and why is beyond me. Why are the anti-gunners so STUPID? Don't they know the thugs, gangbangers and all criminals don't abide by the law?? Disarming law abiding citizens is JUST what the crminals want...just like a kid in a candy store taking what he wants! I have heard and don't know if there's any truth to it but being an armed country is one reason we haven't fought a war on our soil since the civil war. Yes, I can see why the UN wants us to disarm!

I am not a gun lover and although I doubt that I would own one I believe the freedom to own guns would help in everyones saftey. Here in Australia its been a fair while since the gun buyback but we seem to be going through a period of drive by shootings and home invasions. The tough guys doing the home invasions don't need to worry about meeting much resistance  when breaking in because they pick on the elderly and knowing the only thing that would stop them is a firearm and no one has them but other bad guys. I say keep your guns if you are so inclined and that way the bad guys that come through the door will then be taking a gamble on your gun ownership. That helps to keep me a bit safer. Gun crime here slowed down  but it still happens.

When a  country disarms their citizens, there will always be the thugs doing whatever they want with no fear of being killed and would be a tragedy.

As I've said before. Our founders included the 2'nd amendment as a "reset button". It's not about hunting. It's to guarantee "We The People" always retain the ability to start over with a new government if need be.

As long as we retain that ability we will probably never need it.
If we lose that ability we are virtually guaranteed to need it.

We HAVE to retain it because if it's ever taken away we will NEVER get it back! Just ask the Brits and Aussies and others that once had the rights we have now, they will never get them back!   Cool

Agree. The threat comes from an Obama selected supreme court. Let's hope that doesn't happen.
