Had a blast again. It was good seeing everyone and meeting new folks. Sorry Nancy & TP if I was a handfull, I dont remember.  Evil
Ride up was great. Going home sucked!
After getting a 4 hr delay of a head start due to the rain it went down hill. 10 miles west of town the sky was black. Ok, we just need to get south. Well the lightning picked up and so did the winds. Boy this is gonna be good.  Embarrassed Mile up the road and trees are white. Nice. Bam here it is a hard rain, no little warning drops just a bucket full. I flip my flashers on so Kit can see me. Pea size hail everywhere. Rain and hail running down my face and had to spit out ice a dozen times. I cant see the road and Kit is gone. Oh well we will meet up down the road. Finnally after 2 miles of this I had to pull over. Of coarse all the drive ways are mud and I hit the worst one. Rain washed out the drive so it was a muddy stream. Front end falls in and is stuck. It was so muddy I did not use the kickstand, she is upright by herself. 2 bikes pull in and say a gas staion is a mile up the road. Took all 4 of us to push it out. Oh yes still rainin like a bitch. Kit finnally joins the pack and we go to the station and wait it out. I went and changed into dry closthes and realize I did not pack underware. WTF? After about 2 hrs we decide to rain gear up and get south. For 2 hrs we left our gear on. Still froze. Finally I put my leather on and was warmer. Still soaked but was warm. Awhile later a tractor pulling a wagon was in the same lane. I slow far enough back so Kit can see it. I didnt use my brakes tho.  Undecided I'm watching her come up fast and not gauge how slow we are going. She locks up the wheels and she gets into big ol tank slap. Musta hit the tank 4x on each side. Bike was thrown all over the road while I watched it. Some how she pulled out of it. Rolled up next to me and I gave her a thumbs up and she just shrugged her shoulders.  Grin We pass the tractor but he decideds he is turning left while we are passing. Both of us dang near got clipped. I asked if she needed to stop to regain herself and she said no. Awhile later we stopped for gas and she said she was not scared at the time of the tank slap but about 2 miles down the road when she was thinking about it. Finally in Battle Creek a bee hit the corner of my shield and hit me in the corner of my nose. I wipped him off but stung me anyway. Man my eyes watered and my nose hurt. Had to stop.  Good thing in all of this some guy asked if I wanted to buy his gf for $5. Hmmm....a 20 yr old nice blonde? I told him yes I do. He laughed and she crapped. lol It did not get warm till a hour north of Ind St line. Then it was hott! All in all Im proud of her for riding that far being new.

Sorry that you had such a lousy day Brian. I'll have to give Kit credit for not giving up on the tank slapper.  All in all, it sounds like a day that both of you will  remember.

I've always traveled 127 and 75 interstate to Grayling.  Your trip back reminds me of a simiiar trip by me coming back from Grayling on my '86 GW interstate in 1987. Got into the same kind of situation and was traveling on Michigan 100 down through Grand Ledge to bypass Lansing. Raining hard with some hail and Grand Ledge was having a PARADE! got detoured into back roads, wet slippery red clay more suitable for a dirt bike.  The GW pulled me through but I wouldn't want to do that today.

I feel your pain. We hit a hail storm in Denver. It was so bad I tried to get off the highway and couldn't get up the ramp pulling a trailer. I spun the rear wheel and laid it down in blistering hail. Joanne laid her's down behind me because she freaked when I went down. A van full of Hispanic guys stopped and blocked the traffic from us, and offered us shelter in their van. They helped us get the bikes upright after the hail stopped. It went from hot to hail in seconds. Got about 2" of hail. We both had bruises from the hail hitting our legs, And I ruined a brand new pair of gortex pants. More than anything, I remember how hard it was to get going again, because the traffic wouldn't allow us to merge in. I couldn't let the clutch out without the bike sliding sideways. We got a hotel and the maintenance guy loaned me some tools to straighten out Jo's bike so we could ride.
It was thee days into a month long trip and Joanne said "lets go home" She wasn't happy about the damage to her bike, fairing and pegs.

Request declined...

But, we both agree we will never return to Denver. EVERY time we go there the residents of Denver treat us like crap.

Glad to hear you both survived.

WOW!  Good on Kit!!!!  Glad you made it OK - all that matters.

GREAT SEEING YOU TWO THIS WEEKEND!  Proud to call ya brother and sister.  Glad I could finally meet Kit!  What a hoot!

It was a great weekend getting together and telling a lie or two!

GLAD YOU MADE IT OK!  You two shot off out of Grayling a few minutes before me - I was at the gas station when you turned downtown.  I got that nasty stuff outside Lake City and thought of you two (and Blackdog).  Glad you two are OK and it didn't catch BD on the Mighty Mac Bridge.
