With discount code (MEMDAY) HDL's Goldwing alt is $218.93
Or would you go with a M.A.R.S. high output.
2K/IS at 35.8k mi's. We pull trailer, run heated gear, just up graded headlights to 65/50, planning on 2 Dodge truck horns, speaker up grade and charging port for gps etc.
Had to get my brother to bring us a battery (he just happened to have a brand new cb 550 battery) and the fat girl kill'd that dead in 22 miles. Believe it or not that got me in the driveway (had to push her the last 20 ft into the garage haha).
So........... those that have been here, please sound off.
What's my best, reliable option?  Don't wanna local shop rebuild, there's no one around here I really trust and I D*** sure don't wanna hafta do this twice, Hillbilly Highway's just around the corner.
Thanks in advance. As always, any advice, input, tips & tricks, or just general B.S. greatly appreciated.
Peace, Whiskey.

Good thing is you have 8 days to decide before the HDL Sale expires.

This is how to fix the problem for under $10, provided the windings and other components are still good.

I just lost my second altenator this year on 2 different valks.  Angry First one was on my 2001 I/S  OEM with 41,000 miles in april in Birmingham AL. I had a spare altenator in the saddlebag and swapped it out. Then yesterday on my way home from Springfield ,Illinois the altenator on my 99 I/S  with a MARS reman and less than 5000 miles on it went out just east of Columbia,MO on
i-70 and I still had over 250 miles to get home.Removed the fuses for everything but the cooling fan and ECM,put a new battery in it at Odessa,Mo and rode it all the way home on that battery with the fuses removed. Checked the voltage on it when I got home with a multimeter and still had 11.5 volts showing. You can ride quite aways with the fuses pulled if you ever get stuck out on the road and need to make it somewhere.  Smiley

I'd go with MARS  no affiliation  blah, blah, blah.  Just recommended to me by my Car alternator guy when i asked him if he could do it himnself.  Told me he could , but Mars could do it better.   Plus MARS is only 20mn from my house.... Roll Eyes
