Then we headed north on the beat up dirt paved road next to the big river going under I 55 Turning on to for a while Then sheer blind luck and a couple of GPS prods brought us via country roads to Wingo, KY. This would have positioned us to cross the Kentucky Lake on Hwy 68 EXCEPT the bridge had been taken down so a big load could pass through on the water. Darn it. This pushed us onto major roads. On the dam Here's Coot next to "The Kentucky Dam". We stopped at Abe Linclon's parents tavern They had concrete ramps back then??? Then on to Bardstown, KY for the night Up in the morning for distillery visits The first we went to was Heaven Hill. We were too early so I led us to the Willett Distillery aka Kentucky Bourbon Distillers. This was just down the road from Heaven Hill. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kentucky_Bourbon_DistillersThe head distiller was to show us around but the auger had broken so he was busy shovelling grain by hand. This left us in the tender care of the young lady staffing the gift shop / tasting house She gave us a couple of tastes. One from a $300 bottle of 28 year old bourbon. Heady spirits. Terry the distiller arrived and we had a very intimate tour. No photos allowed at George Dickel. Here we could photograph anything. The tower to the left contaisn a 60 foot still purchased in Mexico I can't remember which vat is holding which type of mash This is the only pot still of this type in the world. The owne of the distillery had it built and patented. Then back to Heaven Hill. What a horrible place. Had to sign in, get a sticker, get ushered into a small theater to watch a movie extolling the beauty of Kentucky. No sheep herding for us. We left. The coach unloading visitors should have been enough warning for us. On to Makers Mark.

I've had the Boss Hoss for a year. Had '98 Tourer since it was new and still love it. Hard to imagine it's become my 'little' bike!

Helluva Trip you boys had there. Good Pics and good description of each.
I think I tripped out this year by riding to Key West and back in 5 days, quite a feat.
On a Harley Seat.

An email from the guy with the Ford he's owned since the age of 13 - over 50 years. His parents told him he could buy a car and this is the one he could afford. The trip went extremely well.
Put 1,688 miles on the truck. 854 to Peachtree City, GA from Ashtabula, OH then 834 from Peachtree City back to Ashtabula
The only problem, (and I don’t even consider it a problem) was the old headliner started tearing at the edges where it meets the cab.
When we got to Bob Benson’s house he had some real thin (1/4”) thick Pink Styro Foam sheets and we cut some pieces and slid them above the wooden top bows, a little grey duct tape – problem solved of the headliner edges flapping around inside the cab. The outside fabric was secure – just the inner headliner that gave us the problem.Hwy 119 in KY His co driver lives in Peachtree City. Flew north to drive back south.

Thoroughly enjoyed the report. I will second your experience of the Heaven Hill tour. It was a joke. I recently hit Jim Beam, Heaven Hill, Makers Mark (2nd time) and Woodford Reserve. I highly recommend Woodford Reserves tour. Hoping to hit Buffalo Trace, Four Roses and wild Turkey another weekend. Have to get to the Dickel distillery as I sample their product often. Thanks for sharing a great report.

Thanks for sharing a great report. When you can the Willett Distillery is great. Turn right out of Heaven Hill heading south towards Loretto, down the hill, over the bridge, There's a gravel drive on the left heading uphill with stone walls flanking the entrance. The visitors center is to the right of the big tower at the distillery.
