Gender-based Abortions are Now Legal in the US
Welcome to the new China.  In the old China, they currently have 120 boys for every 100 girls.  Girl fetuses are aborted since they can only have one child there.  The Curmudgeon is always fascinated at how hard the  feminists of this country are for abortions.  Now, given how women are viewed in islamic countries as lesser humans and in China, nobody wants a worthless girl, the Curmudgeon wonders where this will all end up?   Do the feminists realize that they are literally pushing for their own demise?

You also have to wonder what will be happening in the US where gender-based abortions are now legal.  It failed to garner 65% of the vote in the US House today to pass a law banning the act of knowingly performing abortions based on the gender of the fetus.  Can you imagine, watching the ultrasound scan waiting with baited breath to see what the technician says?  Can you imagine the huge letdown finding out that the fetus is just an ordinary girl and not the prized boy?  Well, lets schedule an abortion for tomorrow and we'll have to try again later.  We gotta have a boy.

They would cite "god's will" or some other such BS reason and tell you to pray for a miracle.

What about those people who simply screw up but know that they have no business having kids? high risk pregnancies are a tough one, my cousin is pregnant right now and it may kill her. I'm worried sick. she and her spouse are determined to carry to term, or as close as possible.

I am just old enough to remember what the laws were like before the day of abortion for any reason. You could get one but under only the strictest of circumstances like the mothers life is threatened or raped but other than that it really wasn't a option. I can remember the shame that went along with it also something we have lost today. This loss of respect for life and shame is tragic in my book this is also the thing that keeps abortion a viable and accepted alternative to pregnancy and birth control. Why wrap it when you can ru4 86 or abortion. No guilt no shame no thought of the precious life that was just snuffed out just as assuredly if you used a gun. Why cant we understand that and have the same shame and guilt that it brought on years ago when life was respected in our society? Things will never return to those days so the argument that there will be more and more restrictions doesn't work. People are to much into themselves and woman's choice to allow this. I can remember there was so much guilt and shame that some women who had a abortion never were right after that. A position I really don't want any woman to be in either. I am not for abortion except in the worst of circumstances not the designer type of abortions we have today. The idea of bringing a life into this world and not supporting it is also a respect and me issue. Again no shame or guilt over non support and at 15 being pregnant and no one to support it except the state.
  Again there are always consequences for our actions and reasons they are done. Just because you have a abortion or bring a life into this world irresponsibly doesn't mean you get off scot free. There is still a price that will be paid in the end in this life and when you die.

Nope. If anything we've made PROGRESS (I know, it's a dirty word to some) in terms of gender equality. The law protects women from abuses of all kinds better than it ever has. There are many who would like to go back to the "good old days" when you could smack your wife around for mouthing off or pay them half as much for the same amount of work. I'm not one of them.

Don't worry, oral contraception provided to all women at everyone elses cost will solve the problem of fatherless births in America.  It has too, the left says it will.
