blinker problem

lately i've been starting to have probems with my left side not blinking. i had to hold the button to the left longer or the right side would start blinking. now if i turn the button to the left, both sides blink. the right side works correctly. i disasembled the switch and cleaned the contacts- put a light coating of die-electric grease on contacts, assembled it but both sides still flash. did not find any loose wires.

Sounds like you need to change your blinker fluid.

Sounds like you may have crimped wires and getting cross feeding. Have you carried out any work elsewhere on the bike? Thinking rear fender wiring.

Check the grounds of each bulb. A bad ground can cause some weird problems.

Agree with Gryphon.. 

But I would continue on this topic by suggesting that you split the housing on the left handle where the contacts are found and clean and regrease the contacts.

The fact that it flashes both when left and only right when switched right, is a clue.
If it was shorting wires (outside the switch) , it would be the same in both directions.

Sounds like a problem with the switch.

I was just hit in the rear and my right signal bulb broke. Right signal worked when I went to left signal all flashed. I replaced bulb and all is well. Could be a bad ground/loose connection.
