Three places they wear…the pivot bushing in the lever, the plunger bushing wears on the outside, and then the plunger itself drills the hole in the plunger bushing deeper over time. These three wear points had reduced the “active” clutch action by nearly half.

Pretty sure this is my third one for wear. Broken several and lost one as well...  Undecided

Daniel was the result of the worn parts that the clutch had to be most of the waybout before the clutch would grab? I think the answer is yes, but you know more about it than I.

Other way around. Had to be hard against the bar to disengage and was beginning to drag even there.

That was a good run Daniel. You think that I would have seen your clutch lever fall off of your valk to the road as I was riding behind you, but I saw nothing but the wide open spaces as I was enjoying the ride home. I must admit that was a very good field repair you did on your valk to get you home.     cooldude

Daniel,....take the advise of a few HD HOG members.
Don't put too many miles on your bike; it lowers the resale value and causes more repairs. Grin

Resale value? You mean... someone would sell a perfectly functional bike??? Inconceivable!

(I keep using that word. It must not mean what I think it means...)

Little brass bushing is ovaled in mine Big BF did some grinding and fiddling with the doo-hickey that allows me to start the bike while in gear, clutch in. It wasn't doing it's job but I just lazily would kick it in neutral. Work around's my specialty! Bet you guys didn't think I even knew those fancy mechanichin words! Grin Grin

On the "why they wear" front...

Got curious...counted this morning...22 miles. Used clutch lever 127 times (more or less).

Dallas commute...on the throttle or brakes...not much in between...I am an aggressive downshifter...
