Anybody had or road a Nomad for any length of time or distance. How does it compare comfort wise to the Valk?

My previous bike was a Vulcan 1500.  No comparison at all.  Not even worth discussing!! Grin

They do have nice hard bags.

Don't have any direct experience with one, but I've read that they suck gas worse that our Valks do.

got a new nomad in 2000 and rode it to sturgis. No problems rode 1200 miles in 19 hours before stopping to get a room. I had the dealer install a backrest and highway pegs. Wish I still had it.

Had a 2002 Nomad, put on over 30k miles, always started first time hot or cold, gotta love fuel injection. I am 6-2 and on long rides the Valk still feels a bit cramped in the leg department, the Nomad was more comfortable in that regard, but it is a v twin with all the vibes to go along with that, especially at highway speed ... sorely needed a overdrive gear and a touring seat is a must have. I have seen that the newer ones have a extra gear and went from 1500 to 1700cc, that should help a lot, they also have electronic cruise control I believe.

All that said ... wouldn't swap the Valk for 3 of'em , it would take that many to equal that sweet six Valk engine !!!! And on the straights or carvin up the twisties the fat lady will always show them the tail lights  Evil

Find one for a test ride and trust your rear end  uglystupid2

I have ridden them all on the vendor rides at Lake George around back roads and highway both

+
sweet looking hard bags
better foot position and boards for 6'2 or larger rider

-
not a valk
not as fast
vibration not nearly as bad as many but more than a 6

I seriously looked to buy one before seeing the Valk then it was all over

personally I liked the 1500 nomad over the 1600 that came later  the 2000 is a beast
but still no Valk

Gas  Suckers is a undestatement,

I had a Vulcan 1500 classic Carbuerated and it got on average, 25mpg.

I got 33 most of the time on a Tourer and a Interstate.

Harley I get anywhere from 38 to 44. But have gotten 48 going the speed limit.

Prior to the Valk I had a 94 Vulcan 1500, put 3000 miles on it in one month. Even though it was a v-twinkie, it ran gr8, handled really well, but in no way did it compare to the Valk. Best I got for mileage was 38.
