Check to see if they left a dowel in the shell tube, it is placed in there to limit the shells you can load when hunting.  Undo the knurled knobthat holds the barrel to the reciever, remove the barrel, then remove the split ring that holds the front grip in place, you can now get into the shell tube and remove the dowel.  Watch there is a rather long spring that will come out before the dowel.

What Greg said, there's gonna be a wooden dowel in the tube that's in there so the gun's legal for hunting... Pop that dowel out and you'll be good...

I had one of these by the bed until the little one came along... Now I've got a pistol in a beside the bed safe...

Also just picked up a Saiga-12... WONDERFUL toy! AK47 in 12 gauge shotgun... I've got a 13 round mag + 1 in the pipe... If 14 rounds of 12 gauge as fast as you can pull the trigger won't get your point across, you've got bigger problems!

Congratulations on a FINE home defense gun!

I have a Remington 870 18in Barrel PD black pump, but my mag tube is full length, laser pointer at the end of the tube and a flashlight haning below.  Mine holds 8 I believe,  first 2 are #6/7 shot then 4 - 00 Buck and finally 2 deer slugs for the grand finale if they get too far out the door.

Unscrew the knob on the end of the feed tube. Wrack the action open (Make sure it's unloaded too) and the barrel should separate from the the receiver and feed tube. Set the barrel aside, point the receiver/feed tube at the ground and jiggle it, the wooden dowel should fall out of the screw hole that you just removed the screw from...

Once it drops out, line the barrel back up onto the receiver and it should more or less drop back into place, hand tighten the knob back in place to screw the barrel back onto the receiver, and voila!

Wolf, try turning the extra shells in the butt stock shell holder upside down, you may find that they handle much eaisier ,especially because your shot gun loads thru the bottom...
Nice weapon!!

......Got it Serk....thanks !

....unscrewed  the end cap...pulled the barrel out just a little...then up....turned the load chamber down....shook it a little...and viola....out slid a super thin 6 inch dowel....push the barrel back in...screwed the end cap back in....racked her a few times...loading a live one...(safety on)......then ejecting the live load and loading a 2nd.....shes loaded and ready....

..........thanks bro

I'm looking at one of these. The Picatinny rail on the receiver comes in handy when considering rear sight options. I prefer an ACOG/laser combo for CQB situations.

......what ever THAT means...lol

.....my next question John is.....ammunition.

....bought this gun from a sportings good store...and the guy that sold it to me, obviously wasnt too knowledgeable.....seeing as he told me it was a 5 shot...and when I got it home I read on the outside of the box that it was a....six shot..

....I asked him about ammo differences and he replied that some cost 13 bucks...some 30 bucks......I said..no...I meant differences in pattern...power...etc....he wasnt too informative....he directed me to double 00  .....which I bought....I asked him if it would cut through a wall if need be....and he said yes..    ....this was the 13 dollar ammo..

....can enlighten me some on what would be suitable for this particular gun ?

ACOG - Advanced Combat Optical Gunsight - self-illuminating; requires no batteries. The one shown here has a Docter Optic battery-powered red dot mounted to it for those "point and shoot" scenarios:

"CQB" stands for Close Quarter Battle - or 'mixing it up in a telephone booth', as such a fight is occasionally referred to.

2 3/4" length ('standard'), 00 buckshot loads will give you 6 round capacity.

3" length ('magnum'), 00 buckshot loads will give you 5 round capacity.

For home defense - a human-mass target at under 30yds - I would go with the 2 3/4" version. The extra power probably won't be needed but the extra round could come in handy. Winchester and Remington both offer an affordable, decently performing loading of such.

IMHO 00-Buck in 2 3/4 rounds is more than adequate for home defense...

And, sorry to go off topic, but you did ask... Smiley IF you do your homework saltwater isn't any harder than other aquariums... And saltwater fish only isn't terribly more expensive... Once you get into reef (Corals, anemones, etc) the cost and work go WAAAAAY up FAST...

This is my tank with the cover up, you can see into the fish room... I've got I'm guessing 3-4 nicely set up Valkyrie Interstates in this tank cost wise... Like I said, I tend to be a bit OCD about my hobbies... Wink

Great choice on the home defense weapon.
I have a Mossy 500 as well, but what stays by my bed is this.

12 gauge double barrel coach gun. Very compact yet with full length stock.
Also NOT something a person wants to be face to face with.

For ammo, what "I" use... and suggest, is Centurion Multi-Defense Buck... also known as Buck and Ball.
It is a .650" lead ball and 6 #1 buck pellets.
BRUTAL ammo, and since its 2 3/4 its very manageable.

My wife keeps a Benelli 121 M1 semi auto with 7 rounds of buck and ball on her side of the bed.

I have been questioned about only having 2 rounds... I dont know anyone who will keep coming with both rounds in them... and I have my 1911 as backup... and my wife backing THAT up. Cheesy

Great pics Serk thanks.  I especially liked the percula. I used to have  55 gallon and 30 gallon salt water tanks and they were much less work than the little 10 gallon freshwater tanks I started with.  I won't say I was ate up, but I used to have occasional business in Hawaii and when I was on the way to the airport for the trip home, I used to stop at a small shop there, buy 4 or 5 butterflies and triggers (they were $5 there) and bring them back in carry on bags.  Used to do the same thing on trips to the keys.  I'd go snorkeling, catch a bunch of damsels, sergeant majors, top hats, etc., bag 'em and top the bags off with oxygen, then pack them in a cooler and ship them through baggage.
