OK, I just have to ask, what is in Potwin?  I'm somewhat familiar with it but honestly can't remember anything specific that would draw me there.  Just curious.

Thanks for the response.  As I said I was simply curious.  Although I would never have called Potwin home, my parents lived there when I was born, my dad worked at the old refinery before it closed down.  As a toddler, we moved on to Prospect, just east of El Dorado and other points later in my life.  Always had a soft spot in my heart for that area.  Thanks for the response.

Oh BTW, what's the schedule for this every other Sunday Breakfast?  I've been to the Cassoday gathering when I come back there, would love to join others for breakfast if welcome and could fit it in the schedule.

Well Blackrams let us know when you are in the area next. 1st Sunday of the month is Cassoday, 2nd Sunday is Potwin and Beaumont(I think this is still happening), 3rd week is Marquette, and I know the 4th week is somewhere I can't remember right now. Someone else want to chime in.

Great information, thanks for passing it on.  I will definately keep this in mind.   cooldude

Unfortunately, my next visit to the area will be during Inzane.  Actually, I'll be departing Inzane early to go back to El Dorado.  Mom still lives there.  But, I'll keep that schedule in mind for future reference.  Thanks.

This thread reminded me of something.

Recently, right after Inzane, I went back to El Dorado to visit my Mom.  While there, I had a "special delivery" package that I need to take to Russell, KS.  So, one morning early I set out headed that direction.  About 5 or 6 miles west of Potwin, I was cruising along about 5 over the posted limit and decided to move my feet to the Kuryaukyn highway pegs.  Took a look down to ensure foot placement and noticed the left side peg had rotated back in toward the bike.  Hmmm, that's funny.

Had just re-mounted them recently (with my son's help).  Took them off for a while when I added the Mick O Pegs but decided that since the trip to Inzane and on to KS was a bit further than I normally ride on a weekend, the additional pegs might be a welcomed change for my old worn out knees.  Three options is better than two and there is room.

Regardless, decided that on my next break, I'd check that peg.  Didn't work out that way.

Moved my foot out onto the peg and before I got much weight on it, the damn thing fell off and went bouncing down the asphalt.   tickedoff   I immediately slowed, turned around and went back to retrieve the peg, (they ain't cheap and I am) but, to no avail.  Spent an hour walking back an forth along that ditch.  Finally decided it was a waste of time.

So, if any of you folks just happen to be going to breakfast and see something shiney on the south side of that road.  Well, there's (what was a very nice piece) Kuryakyn peg just waiting to be re-discovered.  Enjoy.  Wink

On a side note, they used to mow the ditches once or twice a year, I know they did that way back when I was a kid.  No doubt some highway maintenance guy is gonna find that peg and think to himself there's got to be a motorcycle out here somewhere.  Wink

Whistler,
Twasn't expecting anyone to actually keep an eye out for it.   But, if you find it, I'm sure it would make a great weight on a fishing line.  Wink  Hope to get back that way in the Spring or next summer.  Won't be any search parties formed though.  I already wrote it off as a loss.  Thanks anyway.
