I tried them on my VTX 1800 and it handles like a dream and corners great compared to the stock Dunnies. I have 9,000 on it now and will probably go twice that. I am also running the Exedra on front and love it.

Now I  got one for the Valk and just found I'm gonna have to do a  nut cage removal mod.

I've run the battlax , loved the tire and handling. But wore out at 7000 miles. I just mounted the Exedra 200 on back. Will see how this one does on mileage. If I can get at least 10,000 I'll stay with this one.

It must be the difference between the bikes even though the weight is about the same? As I said I have 9k on the X and can probably double it..I hope.  cooldude

I've run the Exedra for the last 40k  miles and since I live and do most of my riding in Florida, I usually get 10-12k out of them, mostly by wearing out the center out of the rear [not lots of curves]. Handling is good and rain traction ain't too bad either.

I've thought about the darkside approach, but somehow the engineering conumdrum didn't feel comfortable. Cycle magazine confirmed my suspicions about that.

Ok, not trying to start one of "those" threads...but if I remember correctly
the author of the article you seek never actually RODE a Darkside bike. I
have 47,000 or so Darkside miles with no problems. Sometimes people with
college degrees are just educated idiots. "Educated" and "intelligent" (or
experienced) people do not always come to the same conclusions. YMMV.

P.S. When my GYTT wears out (29,000 on it now, 10,000 or so to go) I
might consider a 200 round tire.....but ONLY if I can't find someone to mount
another car tire for me. Again, YMMV. Ride Happy.

I've got at least 100,000 miles on a car tire... but Hankook doesn't make it anymore and the bf goodrich doesn't work! I'm afraid to drop another $200 on a car tire that won't work. I'm going with the Exedra 200x60x16... Embarrassed

It borders on a religious movement.

While I'd hoped to find some facts regarding failure rates, cornering physics and the like, all we got was proof that the author of this story has a penchant for drama.

"The Motorcycle Industry Council puts it more directly, “Never mount a passenger car tire on a motorcycle rim""
Note that it isn't called the "Motorcycle Rider Council"...

That Industry Council produces what's known as the "Tire Guide".  But unfortunately it's description reads:
"The information in this booklet represents the collective knowledge of a number of motorcycle tire manufacturers and Motorcycle Industry Council staff"
So it's not a tire guide as much as it's just a motorcycle tire guide.

Finally, rather than actually testing the difference between tires, what does Mr. Trow do?
He asks Mike Manning, Dunlop Motorcycle Product & Marketing Manager, how he feels about people not buying motorcycle tires.

Mr. Trow, here are some facts for you:
* I ride a Falken on the rear and Avon on the front.
* I do so because I expect to get many more thousands of miles out of that Falken than my Metzeler provided.
* It felt different for about the first mile, now I don't much remember it's back there while I ride.
* I have shared these thoughts with anyone that asked.
* I have not told anyone that they should switch to any tire... religious or otherwise.
* Tires have no more in common with a pencil eraser than you do with a bowl of salty primordial soup.
