was just there at J&P cycle in Anamosa IA this past weekend.  95% are HD parts with a small section for Yamaha and Honda VTX/Goldwings accessories.  I asked for any parts for a Valkyrie and the guys behind the counter didn't have any available.  I did ask though and if you are in the area, they said if you take one of their catalogs and want anything and in the area in IA,  they can get it to you if order from their store in person with FREE SHIPPING TO YOUR HOUSE unlike thru the catalog ordering having to have say over 200 bucks for free shipping.  I thought their store was a little small, but most of the place is inventory warehouse and they said they have the majority (not all though)  of their stuff in the catalog.  The parking lot is huge but almost all hard compacted gravel.  Was looking at clothing and pretty pricey even all the t-shirts were over 20 bucks on the clearance rack.

I ended up buying a barefoot willie cupholder for 20 bucks since that is a few bucks cheaper than anywhere else I have seen it.

Anyone else have a barefoot willie cupholder?  likes/dislikes?

I read on barefoot willie's website that it has a lifetime warranty on it so if the plastic cracks, I will be calling them up to get a new one and see how their customer service is.

Been there once.
Glitz and glammer; it's a tshirt shop where most of the workers don't know much about bikes.
They didn't have anything me & 2 buddies were looking for... Their response ... "we do 90% of our business on the Internet now; we can order it for ya."  I CAN ORDER IT MYSELF!
I wouldn't ride 5 miles out of my way to go back to that place.  My2cents.

I went to there store in Sturgis yrs ago. They had a separate store for HD and metrics. I did go in looking for brake pads and they had none.  Undecided

I've got one.  It's alright, but it is a bit picky on what fits and what doesn't.  Since it has no adjustment, some of my travel mugs are just bit too large.  Works OK on plastic water and soft drink bottles and those insulated cups that look like a paper cup with a sleeve on them.  I use mine to hold my tea on the way to work each morning.  It puzzles them at work when they see me coming in with my cup in hand and they know I rode the bike.   Wink

Just got an e-mail from Jamin Leather about their "Swim Suite edition.  Shocked

I know none of you guys give a hoot about shapely models in tiny little leather bikinis.  Evil
But they also sell jackets, gloves, and other motorcycle stuff, so as a public service, I post the link here.

Only good thing at least the guy behind the counter in IA at J&P cycles told me is if you order it in store, no shipping and handling charges shipped to your house vs. on the internet or phone call in has S&H charges for orders under a certain smaller amount.  Do agree though it is mostly glitz and glamour but what mostly HD shop isn't?

Sorry, not going to spend 30 bucks on a t-shirt on the clearance rack.  That is not what I call clearance, more like 10-15 bucks would be reasonable.

If going to IA from say 100+ miles away just to see J&P cycle shop, I wouldn't waste the gas.  If in say Dubuque IA or in the area, worth it to stop I guess if not too far out of the way???

I've got that cupholder and use it all the time.  When I'm sitting in traffic on parkway west in the mornings, I can drink my coffee. I get some looks...lol!

I have been to the Open House many times.  I lived 30 miles away up until 6 years ago.  Now I am about 150 miles from Anamosa.

The bike show brings in some pretty sharp bikes, of course most are trailer-ed in.

All kinds of vendors, but generally geared towards  HD.

Good chance that you Will Not find anything Valkyrie specific.  If you go knowing this, you will enjoy the time there.

One year I got a great deal on a Helmet because a Huge storm blew through and the vendor couldn't get things protected fast enough.  Was a little wet inside...paid $50 for a $200 helmet. Was dry by the time I got it home.  cooldude

The Dyno-Drags are fun to watch.  Hell, run your Valkyrie and show the crowd the kind of power "they don't have".  Cool

Remember, less than a mile down the road is the the National Motorcycle Museum.  If you are at the Open House, the Museum is a Must See.

I signed up for their catalog, entered my email address and almost immediately started receiving dozens of junk emails. Maybe a coincidence but I do not think so. Had not signed up for anything else, just J&P Cycles.

Yah, saw the motorcycle museum coming into town of Anamosa about 1-2 miles tops down the road in town from J&P which is just outside of town near the hotel we stayed at for 1 night.  A tad pricey if you ask me for 110 bucks per night double queen for a weekday with very few guests.  If the family wasn't along, I'd by myself pay the admission to see the 100's of cycles on display at the cycle museum, sounds interesting.  Anamosa IA is sort of in the middle of nowhere and one smaller town nearby named Strawberry Point or something strawberry like that had a parade going on that day unfortunately for us and police directed us off the one main road to like 10 miles of all gravel roads.  Very odd unlike in WI that a lot of off the main roads are gravel roads all over in that area of IA that seemed in the middle of nowhere.  We visited 2 nice state parks Wapsipinican in Anamosa and Backbone state park near Strawberry Point that were nice to drive thru and visit.

Anamosa IA also has the state penitenuary (jail) that is real old that I would've liked to visit  (they give tours for like 3 bucks each or something like that) also but totally forgot about it the next morning when heading out of the hotel in Anamosa.

"Just go!" If you live far away you should get a motel roon as close as an hour away on Friday. On Sat. get your but up and go see the National Bike Museum by Anamosa right off the Freeway Its really great, then go to Jp cycles event. I believe in their catalog if you buy something for more than $50 it ships free. Forget about having to have it right now. There are so many venders there its really great. I want to go again real bad but timing is just not on my side unless i get a wild hair up my butt. It just might happen.  I think last year they had over 70 venders there.

Only 250 miles, sounds like a good ride gonna go check it out. Not looking for anything Valkyrie specific but then again none of the shows have much in the way of Valk stuff. Thanks for the feedback will also check out the museum and hopefully post pictures.
