I used to be a wolfboy, but I'm alright NOOOOOWWWW

I priced a new front tire, seems like all brands like Metz, Dunny,
Bridgestone have all gone up like $80. WTH.

The only tire that was still a reasonable price was Shinko.

Question is, is the shinko a better tire now? Should I go for it.

Good and Bad reports please.

Interesting question.....    I asked the same here recently as well.

I also contacted Shinko regarding some previous issues with the 747/757 Shinko tires (delamination), both of which were recalled and ultimately replaced (by Western Power Sports I believe) with a Metzler ME880.   I was told the new Shinko SE890 Journey Touring Radial  (which appears to have the same tread pattern as the 757) has not had any issues and they have received good reviews (I looked for some reviews).  I offered to be a test platform to try out a set for them and provide some real feedback, but they didn't bite on my offer.  I do like the tread pattern, looks like it would work well on dry or wet pavement.

I have considered giving em a try.... at least the front.... for 110.00  at

I have the Shinko S E 890 Journey on the front of my I/S with a D/S rear and up to this point(2900 miles)no negatives at all. Wink If i get the miles(14454)out of the Shinko i got out of my Metz 880 it will be a good deal. Running the Shinko is just as predictable as the Metz was-no hidden issues and no nasty surprises-low or high speed. coolsmiley If the $110.00 includes FREE shpg jump on it. Got mine back in April of this year for $118.99 and FREE shpg from M/C Superstore but it has already gone up 4 or 5 bucks. crazy2 In short i'm liking what i'm feeling when i ride with it. cooldude Not affiliated no monetary gain yadayadayadayada. uglystupid2 RIDE SAFE.

I priced out a set of tires last night and Chapparral had the best prices.

Total for a set of Shinko SE890's = $240.26

Total for a set of E3's = $391.26

For a savings of $151.00, I believe that I am going to give the Shinko's a shot.

I am going with one of these in the next couple weeks as well. I just cant pay that price for a E3 or Metz.  At the price, im willing to give it a shot, if i can get 10k out of it, I will be very very pleased for the money.

Sombody needs to find a Car Tire for the front of a  Valk, or rding is gonna get scarce.

The Dunlop 402's I run are bias ply and get 20, out of a front on a 800lb motorcycle in the mountain twisties.

I think someone else here runs bias front and rear, maybe Alph can't remember and they are cheaper.

Try an alternative. But don't mix bias with radials or curtains for yah.

Try Jake Wilson on line very reasonable.

Got a Shinko 200 on the back of my ZX14, thang grips like mad and so far wear is great.  Course the ZX is lighter than the Valk, but gots way more horses,  so dont know if the wear and handling would be the same.  Anyhoo I am really liking it.

Just bought a Shinko (1st time) for the front, $99 delivered (JakeWilson). Now $25 or $30 at Cycle Gear and I am good to go.

I surveyed here before buying too. Got some good feedback both ways, decided to go for it.  Wink

I don't see those Shinko tires that fit a Valkyrie listed on Jake Wilson.....  Did you get the SE890 or what model?

I just ordered one front tire (rear is fine) for 110.88 from www.chaparral-racing.com including shipping (free).  Will see how long it takes to get here (from California)

Tried to order the 890 Shinko from Chaparrel and they dont have them and their vendor is trying to get some from Japan.  He said it was going to be sometime before they had them in stock. That was about 2 minutes ago.

Just canceled my order too. Might have been willing to wait if they had informed me of what's going on.
