Currently have a recovered/rebuilt standard seat and I'm satisfied with it. Just need a backrest. Would prefect one that's adjustable. Had a utopia on the Wing and loved it but not sure if the Valk version is up to snuff.

Thanks

My bike came with a Utopia backrest on it. The best thing the PO ever did to it! I love it  cooldude

Tried a Utopia and hated it. . -- i couldnt get it adjusted to the point of being comfortable . Didnt like how it fit too and mashes up the passenger seat. -- Sold it on ebay

I would love a good adjustable solo backrest that works. Mbe one needs to be designed coming off the rear fendor mounts.

I pulled my utopia off when I went to ultimate seats as they had a matching one, loved the utopia and the replacement.  Still have two Utopias on the shelf.

Will any of them work with a Mustang seat?  Mine came with a non-backrest Mustang and no stock seat.  One of the things I miss from my VTX is the backrest.  It was a Cruisin' Comfort that slid under the passenger seat and I wonder if something like that is made for the Valk.

I also have the two piece Mustang seat and I wonder the same thing.  Is there a backrest for us?

I've used Pro Tac backrests in the past with Mustang seats on my Magna. They are pretty solid...not sure if they make one for the Valk.

I had mine modified by a welder friend who added a few inches to work with the Mustang seat and mustang passenger seat. Turned out to be perfect (but close!). See it here:

What's a good driver's backrest for the Valk?

Here you go.  Custom, form fitting and heated.  Not bad on a Harley either.   Cool

Have to agree Jess, I like the fact it's heated. Not sure it would adapt to my bike though, room is at a premium back there.  Cheesy

Yeah, well, for this particular backrest I'd make an accommodation.

I sent Protac an email about a Mustang-compatible backrest.  I saw on here or the other Valk board that they had one made especially for the wide Mustang seat.  I'll update if I hear back from them.

Edit :  Just got a response from Harold at Protac - they do not make a backrest for Valkyrie.

The Utopia arrived today. It was easy enough to install. One problem tho is the seat is now kinda hard to get latched due to the bracket. Guess I can live with that. Think I'm gonna like it. Thanks all.

Yep, and it will require a little finesse to get it unmatched as well.  Push down on the nose, turn the key hard, pull up on the nose.  That was mine anyway...

Now I do the same with the Ultimate seat.

I have this one and like it but would think the utopia built into the seat would be comfier, not sure though.  It keeps the seat intact and mounts by taking off the side saddlebags (easier to do) and take off the front long bolt of the side bar bracket.  Works pretty good except what I don't like is to get it on quicker, you have to take off the side hard saddlebags off my I/S to push really hard with a socket set to get the bolt started on each side and it is very long threads so takes awhile.  Once you get it started (hard part for me), it only takes a few minutes per side, but getting the long bolt started is the key and hard part for me.  It is adjustable about 1" is all front to back but should work for most between around 5'8" to 6'2" or so my guess?  Plus, if you want to remove the seat for any reason, you have to yet again take off the side saddlebags and undo the bolt to take off the bar for the backrest first which sort of sucks also.

I didn't pay anything for it since came with I/S when bought it 4 years ago but if you check ebay once in awhile I have seen one used for around 100-125 bucks or so.  Very well made but installing can take some time.

Jess, If I had this for a back rest I don't think there would be much bike riding.

Just took her out for a test ride. Backrest is perfect, no adjustment needed. Not quite as good as Jess's but it'll get the job done.  crazy2

I have Utopia backrest on mine and I could not be happier with it.  BUT, if you can buy one on here I'd do it instead of buying one from Utopia, even if the price is the same as new.  It took me about 6 weeks to get mine, they say 4 weeks is normal.  If you can buy one from a VRCC member you can get more use out if it this summer!!

Half of everything you own for a backrest is pretty steep.   Grin
