I'm syncing my carbs  and before i adjusted any I checked the vacuum on each one ,#3 was "4" hg all the rest were between 10 & 11 , should I try get all of them to match #3 or do  I have a problem with #3 carb ?

#3 is the reference, non adjustable. Sync the other carbs to it. This is the way I do it.

YUP! Number 3 is the carb that all the others are standardized too. From your picture, looks like things yours are pretty close.

I can't say what happened, but, something must have.. Your #3 doesn't seem to have much throttle opening compared to the others.. All cylinders should be fairly even [ Honda says within 1.5 in/hg] and set to #3.. What are you using and how are checking the readings ??

#3 seems low to start with.   Perhaps it has developed a vacuum link on that carb.  I would check the manifold o-ring, the boots etc. to see if it comes up.    I would want to know why it was low before I performed a sync to it.

It is possible however, that once you begin your sync, that it will come up (I am leaning towards a leak somewhere though).  There is some movement in vacuum readings from carb to carb once you begin the procedure.  That is one of the reasons it is nice to have something that monitors them all at the same time.

The others are in my opinion "in range".   After you do that, hopefully, things will come up on number 3 and then you can resync.

Let us know what you find..

It seems ok now , I played with the adjustments until # 3 finally came up a little then adjusted the others to it . Finally got them all at 8 hg . I have only   a single gauge so I did it 4 times .It seems fine now . Thanks for the help .

ANd the differences there are not in inches mercury, should be more accurate because teh ATF is lighter than teh mercury and more responsive, I would think.

I also use just one gauge.. Could you have been checking 2 cylinders at the same time ??  I ' T ' a line dedicated to #3 and just have to remember to pinch off the correct line so the proper cylinder is being checked and not reading 2 at the same time..
