Does anyone know of a good shop that is familiar with the OEM CB radio on my I/S?

it may not need to go out for repair.  On mine I carefully took the case apart and discovered 1 of the internal connectors had come loose from the board.... Pushed it back on to the pins .....reassembled and all was well.   fairly easy to dismantle the case.

When it's plugged in it seems to interfere with the other audio sources, ie. aux or FM, even if the CB is off. It appears to transmit and receive but only carrier single, no modulation. So, it stays unplugged most of the time.  I'll prolly get some contact cleaner and start cleaning pins and see what happens... The bike is new to me, and it was unplugged when I got it.  I'm planning a ride with some buddies with CBs so it'd be nice to get it working.

this is gonna sound like a stupid question, but, do you have a headset plugged in?
did you turn the squelch all the way up?

clean the plugs, spray contact cleaner into the transmit switch. make sure the "cb" showes on the panel, and the little headset(on the panel) is off.

sounds really basic but we tend to overlook the simple things. i know firsthand. cooldude

if none of that works and your close to st louis, come on over we'll compare it to mine. Smiley

I've seen the installation instructions for the CB unit, and it illustrates the installation of the noise suppressor on the alternator.  Where can I find an after-market noise suppressor?

It works!  Thanks Cliff, I took the radio out and disassembled it. The row of connectors between the two boards seemed to be intact but some of the pins looked a little chalky so cleaned them with contact cleaner and blew them dry and reassembled and re-installed. I also cleaned all of the other pins and receptacles on all of the plugs, and hosed down the switches in the switch pod on the left grip and blew dry.  I just got back from a ride over to the nearby interstate and managed to get a few radio checks from the hillbilly truckers so I think I'm up and running.

Thanks everybody for the help!

I would think any place that has a CB, your local marina, Radio Shack, etc.
