pulled into desmoines at 630 and just got back from dinner with RJ
the word for today is HOT 97
also WINDY
At one point I was running with a rice burner the rider was bent over behind his mini screen doing 105 and looks to his right. I am sitting back comfy on the mickopegs then he goes to warp
like the road runner and coyote beep beep 160+ but I caught him 20 miles down the road
bike runs like a top gas mieage sucked big time into the head and cross winds at 80-90 mid 20s

Yah, sure is hot in WI in IL and IA areas the past few days (mid 90's) with very strong, very warm and muggy winds. One more day OSS into the mid 90's tomorrow (Wednesday) and clear sailing from there on out in low 80's. Take an easy tomorrow traveling in the heat and don't overdue it since with a helmet on sure takes it's toll on me when I drive the cycle even short distances of 50 miles on down.
It really hits home when heading straight into 30+ mph winds on my I/S I usually drive barely 55 mph into the winds straight on but heading with the wind easily fly going 70 mph. I think the cross winds especially strong gusts off and on throw me off the most having the worst time fighting the winds to keep the bike upright.

Oss, was glad to have you stop by and tie on the feed bag.
Hey Oss, to catch a corner of Nebraska, your last good chance is take a left on Hwy 120, and then go North on 77 back to I-29 in SD.
Happy trails ole buddy. Keep the rubber side down.

It was fun watching the people when ordering food and things. Those people from the right coast talk funny...... LOL.
Then to top it off, I fur getted me ear plugs. Could only hear about every 3rd word. Damn I didn't realize I was that hard of hearing. I might have to wear those damn plugs full time.
To tell you how much of a hurry I was to meet up with OSS, I took my damn portable O2 tank, BUT, I forgot to turn it on. Now, let that damn Dr tell me I need these firkin tanks.
OSS, ride safe and arrive later if needed. If you are close on the return trip, give me a holler and we do Bubba Que again.
Dat boy from da Bronx just can't get enough of da que.

Take US 20 outta Soiux City IA into NE. You wont be disappointed. O'Neil has a hotel. Then you can shoot north into SD.

fudgie I did take 20 across to 83 Nebraska sure has some nice rolling hills in the east 83 was a very cool road only hit an hour or so of rain on 20 but as soon as I got on 90 the sky turned black HIGH winds could barely hold the bike up in the rain and when I started to see the lightning up ahead I got off at Kaboda or something like that for half and hour while the cell went by Then the winds got even stronger as the storm passedEnded up doing the last 88 miles on 4.2 gallons at 85-95 playing with a beemer with the metal side bags the head and cross winds were fun but my arms and shoulders are gonna be real sore tomorrow Tomorrow I am passing on the badlands ride and heading with Bearinthe House and Taz to Sturgis Should be a beautiful day and I may actually hook up the video camera

Yup 20 is awesome. A little ruff in spots but nice rolling hills. You shoulda stopped in White River SD and turned west on 44. It would take you all the way to Rapid. Its far faster and safer the 90. It hits the outside of the badlands to. After this way, no need in seeing them. New asphault last year. Smooth as glass. Yes the wind. Been on 90 twice and never have been since. Way to dam windy esp from Murdo or Kadoka to Rapid.
If you want a fast scenic route home from Rapid, call me.
