I think it was probably this movie that made my mother hate motorcycles the most.  The image of a drug induced cross country "trip" is probably the most sterio typed image of a cycler today, and it's all because of that movie.

my mom still hates the thought of me having a cycle, and i've never in my life have done any kinda illegal drug.  seriously!!

My mom dated my dad for about 4 years before they got married.  All that time they rode motors together, her on an Indian twin and him on an Indian 4 banger.

Both were basket cases when he got them.  The 4 banger was the one I learned to ride on.

Dad always said I went to the Barn Dance with him and came home with my mom, and they were married 5 months later.  I was a preemie.

When I wanted a motor, mom wasn't too sure she wanted me to have one, but decided it wouldn't be very nice to not let me ride when she and dad had for several years.   So, I got a motor at an early age.  It was a home made frame and Briggs motor.  Ran like a scalded dog.  My Dad's brother, they were all builders and great mechanic's, helped me put a 53 Olds V8 in a 49 Hudson with the step down floor.  If it wasn't for the name, Oldsmobile on the engine, you would have thought it was a factory install.  I bought the car when I was in the Marine Corps and shelled the engine coming home on leave.   I helped start the installation and my Uncle finished it when I went back to get my discharge....

Came back home, got the car and my wife and we headed back out to California for my LEO job...........  Ran like a top, and was a real sleeper.........  LOL.... Lots of cars got bit by that one............

When mom passed and was cremated, she got her last wish before she took her last breath, and that was a ride to the cemetery on a motorcycle.  My youngest daughter and I took her from the Funeral home and rode 50 miles up to where she is buried.  Mom's sister about had a sheet fit because there wasn't any services.  something else mom asked for and got......  Mom and her sister never did get along, they fought like cats and dogs.......
