Gas cap seal

Was in the Honda dealer today and tried to buy a new rubber gasket for my gas cap for my 98 Standard. They had no part number for the item, however I could buy a new gas cap and even though it didnt show the gasket, they assured me that it came with one...oh, $70  for the cap.
So.....does anyone know where a guy can purchase just the gasket, because my gas cap is good. Thanks for you help, Raymond

to deal with it is to get some gas resistant gasket material and make a supplemental gasket that will fit in there with the rubber one....as far as I know ou cant just buy a new gasket. I have done this on serveral motorcycle gas tanks and it usually does great, the hardest part is finding the correct thickness gasket to use.

I bought gasket material and made one that is under the original one.  Been that way for about 8 years.  I think it is time to make another one as I sometime smeel gas.
