Most of you have probably read the thread I posted about the group ride gone wrong. That wasn't the only crazy thing that happened in front of us on that ride.
On the way home, I saw smoke billowing up in the distance and figured someone was burning brush (we were in a county that doesn't have a burn ban). I was only partly right. There was brush burning - it was just in a ditch, and uncontrolled. There was a pickup stopped on the other side of the road just behind us and the driver was calling 911. The heat was so intense from this little fire that as we ride by, I could feel it on my face.
Folks, this is what happens when you throw a lit cigarette into the road. It's littering, it's disgusting, and it can cause fires:
