When I pulled in from work Friday I found my Grandson Dano was waiting impatiently on me with his ridin' cloths on instead of his usual shorts and crocks. He just recently turned 6 and has been getting more and more interested in riding.

I grabbed a quick shower and we hopped on the Valk and rode up to the creek at Mansfield (always one of the CBR stops for those that remember).

After we got back he was ready to learn to ride for himself so my son Joe (his Dad) and I got him setup and riding on the same Honda 50 his Dad and my other kids learned to ride on.

I bought this Z50R used in 1986, it's been through my kids, some of my wife's nephews, our friends kids and now Daniel is the 3'nd grandson to learn to ride on it. It's wearing the 3'rd set of forks, first two were bent beyond repair. It's been underwater in my pond on several occasions, it's been buried in mud up to the tank and lengthways into a barbed wire fence once which required a trip to the hospital for the rider.

Not only do you meet the nicest people on a Honda but you can meet a passel of Fryes on one.  Grin

Dano's dad may be getting a little large for this bike.

Dano gets some pointers from me, Grandpa.

Dano Rides and rides well.
Looks like he got my "goober grin".

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

I bought an 86 model Z50R for 350 bucks  it was about 8 yrs at that time. My son started riding it in about 94 when he was six. We rode  the crap out of that thing  between neighbor kids, cousins and a sister there is no knowing how many hours of riding that thing had on it.By the time he was 8 he had graduated to a honda XR 100 and I sold the bike for the same 350 I paid for it and the guy who bought it was glad to get it for that price. I don't think you could kill that thing with a hammer.

Teach them in the way they should go, and they will not depart from it.
