Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

Was out cruising and found a little Indian battlefield from the War of 1812. 12 American soldiers headstones are there. Not originals. On top of the headstones where coins. Some had a quarter, others had a dime, etc. Anyone know what this pratice means?

History is interesting. When I think of the War of 1812 I usually think of the British attacking Ft. McHenry (1814), The writing of the Star Spangled Banner etc. "Rockets red glare" was real. One of the British ships had rockets on it. Hard to imagine in that day. Didn't do a ton of damage but was probably pretty scary on the receiving end.

In Jewish cemeteries, small stones are left on top of the head stone, or foot stone in family grave sites, as a symbol that someone visited.  This isn't the original meaning behind it (imagine that) I recall something about a grave should always be marked, so stones are left.......I forget the rest.

the white house was burned in that war, James and Dolly Madison barely had time to flee and saved only a few items. they were expecting a dinner party that night. there is still a spot on the white house exterior that you can still see the burn marks.
some claim to see the spirit of a british soldier walking inside bearing a torch.....
history is cool Cool

there were some concerns about having the nations capital so close to the ocean that serious talk was given about moving it further inland. I agree we should move it to a spot between Oklahoma and Texas
