Still very tentative on my part, but, right now planning on taking two days to make the trip.  Don't know about the heat aspect as yet, but planning on not killing myself in the process.

Thinking of leaving Houston early morning on Saturday, possibly stopping overnight around Texarkana.  Basically taking US-59 for that portion of the trip.  Probably stopping mid-day or thereabouts.

Next day continuing US-59/71 north approximately 150 miles and taking AR-23 north.  Road changes names/numbers many times but ends up in Eureka Springs.  Part of this road is known as "The Pig Trail".

This plan would make about 300 miles first day for me and about 275 on the second day.  Nice leisurely trip avoiding the hotest part of the days.

Anyone want to come along or have any other ideas.  I am open to options.

I'm planning a Saturday morning departure going north into OK and then meandering east ending with a run across Talimena and an overnight in Mena.  Not exactly sure about the actual route yet as I'd like to mix in a visit to Runestone Park.  Trying to make it at least 600 miles up to go with the roughly 400 back.

Thinking straight shot back on Friday, but that's in pencil.

Earlybird, I am planning on early Saturday morning departure from Lake Jackson and headed to Pittsburg, TX to stay the night with some friends.  I will likely be headed up 59 as well.  Then headed to Eureka Springs Sunday afternoon.

We still don't have a REAL plan yet... PlaneCrazy says I'm in charge of planning this trip.   Undecided  I'm thinking pre-dawn start on Saturday and seeing how far we get before the heat catches up with us.  We will probably take a straight shot getting there and meander more on the way back.

Well...right now my plan is to leave Driftwood early -- 4:00AM-ish -- Monday morning and getting into Eureka Springs around 4:00PM that afternoon.  Thought I had a good route figured out, but now I'm second guessing myself.  Will have it nailed down before I leave!

99F in Eureka Springs today with tomorrow's high (Friday) expected to be near 102F. Shocked

Cooling trend expected next week...let's hope that happens! cooldude

I am still up for it.

Is your wife riding with you?

Not sure of where you live but was thinking that perhaps we could meet up on north side of Houston on 59, that way neither one would have to go way out of their way to meet up.

I rode north last week and, probably about an hour for anyone, found an exit north of Caney Creek for SH 242.  At the exit is a Flying J on the west side of 59.  Would be a decent place to get breakfast if wanted (Denny's) and/or top off the gas tank.

Perhaps more will join us.  Will wait until closer to see.

Can't hardly wait.

Don't know which way you are planning, Daniel, but if you wish, you could meet us in Texarkana on Sunday morning or perhaps in DeQueen, AR.

Welcome to join us or pass us en route.

Be good to see you either way.

I'm going up from McKinney on Tuesday and don't have a definite route as I will probably be riding alone. Ark. 23 (The Pig Trail) off of I 40 would be fun.  Plan on leaving Friday morning for the return trip and would very much enjoy some company.

Ray the spousal unit will  be taking a pass on the ride unless a cage is involved, and she has not found that option to work out a car ride  other than driving solo. So I will be driving the Valk alone.  I am in the clear lake area near hot glue.  Meeting on 59 sounds good.  I too am interested in getting some miles behind us before too late in the day.

Well, it looks like I will be able to make InZane this year. I just got the time off from work to go. I haven't made a reservation yet, but I guess I will be at the over flow hotel. I don't know when I will be leaving or what route I will take, but I will be there. There is a friend of mine that would like to go with me but he was not sure about going because he rides a Harley. I told him not to worry, because he is a good guy and the fact that he rides is good enough. His name is Edgar Serrano. Well folks, I guess I will see everyone at the meeting on Thursday or I will see you at InZane.    cooldude

I keep reading about everyone riding but don't see any meeting points, times, etc for the various groups.  It's far safer to ride with someone and the larger the group, the more visibility, more mechanics and more tools in case of problems.

I won't be going, but it would be nice to see some start times and locations on here.

New Forum Member Allen Dodson (Mustang) has posted his desire to ride with someone, but has no reply.

Thanks!

I am leaving 6:00 am on Thursday the 19th. Meeting up with Wanderer in Sherman about 2:5-3 hours later. Our final destination is Sedalia, MO later that day (about 650 (s)miles.). I will be at the BMO Rally till Sunday the 22th and make my way south to Eureka Springs.  Sundays trip is only about 220-250 miles so if I leave early enough I can do the PIG twice!  Evil Evil cooldude

Update for my plans for travel to Eureka Springs.

Leaving home approximately 6:00 a.m. Saturday morning from the southwest side of Houston.

First point for anyone wishing to meet up will be approx. 7ish at the Flying J located at US-59 and TX-242.  Convenient for any wishing to ride with us, fuel, restaurant, rest rooms.  Hopefully, departing there no later than 7:30 for Texarkana.

If you are coming from elsewhere in Texas and wish to meet up in Texarkana, I have reservations at the Quality Inn, 5210 N. Stateline Ave., Texarkana, AR, US, 71854.  This is just off the freeway where US-59 turns north off I-30.

If you wish to join up there let me know by cell: twoeightone.467.39zero9

I am getting pumped.

Well Blotar has signed us up for Inzane at the last minute...Kind of says how we normally operate. We will be leaving Sat. morning early and plan to make it a one day trip. We will be at The Hot Biscuit in Cleveland at 6:00am if anyone would like to ride with us. We can be flexible on the time if someone is interested otherwise it will be a 6:00 breakfast for us and probably a 7:00 KSU from there. Our general route is 59 to Hope to 19 to 27 to 7. Also, we are on the waiting list for the main motel but have reservations at the overflow. If anyone has a room at the main motel reserved and is interested in saving a few bucks and sharing a room give us a heads up. Of course I am picky and am only interested in rooms with queen beds...Blotar needs his space! See everyone there!!! We are too pumped!!!

Ride safe, I am out on this one. I tried, and thought I could pull it off, but work has interfered, and I doubt I will be in any shape to make the trip in the heat after being out in it for so long.

I thought I might make this InZane, but I guess not.   I am kinda bummed over it...

Have fun!!  I will be working.
