OK, if by some twist of fate, you had to get rid of your Valkyrie, what would be your choices?

Mine:
1. 2011 Victory 8 Ball Kingpin
2. 2012 Triumph Thunderbird
3. 2012 Kawasaki Vaquero
4. 2012 Star Stratoliner Deluxe

Notice all are twins and all have belt drive.
Glad I've got three Valks,....won't need to buy another bike before I die!

My first thought was "wheel chair";  but if I had to, I think something big from BMW. I love the hiway, you see...

I did'nt replace any of my Valkyrie's but the thought was heavy on my mind about buying this bike. I have no desire whatsoever for a two-lunger now or ever.

Replacing my 2000 I/S with sidecar, with a very low mileage 98 Goldwing with sidecar. Will still have my 98 standard though. Anyone interested in an I/S with sidecar? PM me.

Unless there is some hidden clause in Obamacare that mandates me purchasing a v-twin, don't expect me to ever own another one. tickedoff

I'm leaning on a BMW 1600gt, that is, provided they get a few bugs worked out.  I'm in no hurry, I figure the Valkyrie has another couple hundred thousand miles left in her. Wink

Saw a couple of articles here about taking a modern gold wing
(01 - 12), stripping off the tupperware, and all bags, turning it
into a real actual 1800 Valkyrie with all Tsukayu luggage and fairing.

I'm sayin just take a written-off GW and bring her back to life,
then give her a New life as your personalized young flat six.

Seems do-able.

There was a recent thread from Tank_post(?) about a kit for bobbing the trunk off of the Wing.  If not that then an ST1300

Hi Posted my reply to this back in Nov09.Still holds true
Adrian

Quote
Hi All Our new local "Honda Powerhouse" dealership had a charity ride yesterday. As chapter rep ,I was introduced to the regional Honda Rep. As he admired my 98 Tourer,he asked if something happened to my Valk,he asked what I would do.I said I would go home and get another one from the garage.I knew what he was leading to but wasn't playing. He asked the same thing and I replied that I would go back for another one. He gave up and asked me outright what in Honda's line would interest me. I gave a very honest answer and said "Nothing" You don't have a "Fat Bagger" that I would want.Don't care for the cost of a Wing and want hard bags. I said that Victory had two new models that really caught my eye. Then he went and told of Honda's new "Interstate" which he said would be based on the VTX1300.I told  him that I load up my I/S with gear,my wife and myself ,pull a trailer and hit the highways and travel at a good rate of speed and asked if a smaller V Twin could do the same? Didn't get a straight answer on that. We ended the conversation with me saying I would rather buy a 12 year old Valk than a new Honda motorcycle.

If I had to get rid of my Valk my replacement would be....

A C6 Vette with a manual

or

A SRT8 Challenger with a manual

or

A CTS-V with a manual

Hopefully I don't have to get rid of my Valk. My life will get pretty expensive. Still be fun, but expensive.

I wouldn't know what to do.  The only street bikes I've ever ridden are flat-6.  I learned to ride on a 97 standard, then moved up to an I/S.  I've also had a couple rides on a GW, but never ridden a V.
The Vaqueros do look pretty sharp, I would have to try one of those, and maybe a big HD, just to say I had one.

And a C6 6-speed is a fun substitute, especially if the better half wants to go somewhere.(she doesn't ride)

The six cylinder beemer, the rocket, the concours, the ST. The only two cylinder bike I can imagine me being interested would be ducati. Their sport touring bike appears to be awesome as are the monsters and the cruiser. The cruiser is funny looking though.

I can't see trading down as far as performance, handling, longevity or comfort goes. Guess that's why I'm still riding the Valk. I could live with trading down in looks if the other four must haves were there.

There's really nothing I'd like to replace the Valk with.  I would like to add a few bikes to the stable though.....but have no intention of ever replacing the Valk.

If (and that's a big IF) I was to replace the Valk, an Electra Glide would probably be close to or at the top of the list for replacement possiblities.

However, I'm not reallly planning on ever replacing it with any other bike.....at least untill my knees give out.....then I'll be shopping for a trike.

None of the above.

I'd look around for an ST or maybe a stripped down GL1100.
I'm with Smokin' Joe, no desire for a "me too" bike, and I don't covet a Triumph.

I would say that a stripped gw is probably the ugliest bike ever made. Without e plastic, it is hideous. I don't think there is anything worth looking at when it comes to naked wings. The old gl1100 and 1200s were pretty cool tho.

But if I had to replace my valk, it would be either a triumph t bird or and electraglide.

Having ridden V twins (VTX's and numerous HDs, I wouldn't own one. I already own an 05 Wing so additional bikes would be an ST 1300 or a ZX1400 Concours. And  Suzuki DR 400 for the dirt trails.

Thats about the combination I have now......1500 Goldwing, standard Valkyrie, and a KLR 650. I'm good. By rotating the bikes, I may never wear any of them out....Smiley I really don't plan to get rid of any of them.....but then again, you never know.

Now, that's showing some real class.   cooldude  Careful in those highspeed curves though, don't forget individual rear braking, and watch out for the PTO shaft while engage, I'd hate to see you get all wrapped up in that.
