The owner of the company I work for invited me to go flying with him tomorrow, in his P51 Mustang! We will be flying in formation with some other vintage aircraft, land at the Air Museum in Sevierville and make the tour there and fly back to Knoxville. He also has an A5 Trainer which I have flown in and got to fly in his Pitts before he had to land it in a mountain field after the engine failed. It was not repairable. I hope to get some good aerial pics for those who like flying! Dubs

Although I'm a rotorwing nut, I agree, this is not something I'd pass up. Enjoy the flight.

Blackrams, my brother-in-law was a Chinook pilot when he was in the Army. I got to fly the Chinook simulator when he was at Bragg. I am so looking forward to flying in the P-51. What a piece of history! I have a license but haven't flown in years, so when I get the opportunity to fly in these great old planes it makes me feel young again; at least for a short while! Dubs

I whole heartedly agree. I'd do it in a heartbeat. Flew OH 58, UH 1 and AH 1s as an MTP for a bunch of years, they offered me Chinooks when I decided to get out but, by then the decision was made.

P-51 Mustang. My green eyed jealousy monster just woke up and is extremely hungry. I will be with you in spirit. Wonder if these old bones could still handle a cat shot and an arrested landing-hmmm. Spent a lifetime or two in the operators compartment of Grummann S 2 D and Es. Just as an observer of the junk/sampan situation off Nam. Looking forward to the picatures. FLY AND RIDE SAFE.

There is a shop on the way home from work that I just had to stop by. Did not know the person but stop anyway. This guy is building a B17 from scratch. He has the rear tail section done now. He has built P51 and other aircraft. He makes his on dies a forms all the aluminum with a two hundred ton press. He made exhaust panels for a P51 out of stainless steel, looks good ! I like to stop by just to see what he is working on a he comes to the shop to check out what new on the my truck. This guy is a little odd but so am I.

Not the same bird, but I got a backseat ride in an F-16B model, and it is something I will never forget; especially high Gs, the G-suit airing up and greying out, and the little yellow plastic handle sticking up between your legs saying EJECT. Flying with my brother in his Cessna 172 is cool, but lacking in the excitement factor.
Have fun. Definitely need pics.

I have plenty of pics but have not had time to down load them. The ride was everything I expected and much much more. The greatest 4th of July ever for me! Dubs

Awesome opportunity. I would love to do something like that. There is a B-17 that comes to our area on occasion to Hooks Field in Tomball Tx area and I've always wanted to take that $400 ride for 30 minutes of History.....just never could let go of the money.....will some day though....it's on my bucket list.

I've ridden in OV-10s and F-4s. A C-130, out of which we lept at 26Kft, an A-6 and a CH-46. I'd trade a ride on my Valk for a ride in a P-51. Any day.

Wow..Good for you. I have gotten to fly in quite a few vintage aircraft (B-17-The 909, B-24, T6's a plenty and even an old Stearman) but a P-51..Can't wait to see the pics of that. My dream ride probably!! I'm jealous as hell!!
