My friend has a 2006 GW that is subject to a brake cylinder safety recall. He had the inspection scheduled today so since any opportunity will work as a reason to get some wind, I tagged along. While he was getting the paperwork done, I was wandering through the bikes that were there there for service. Spotting a rather dusty black Valk, I had to further check it out. It was a 1998 CA version of the Tourer model. Checking the odometer it showed 2300 miles...hummm, probably has been rolled over at least once... Just for kicks, inspected the brake rotors, looked virtually unmarked, no grooving at all......could be new front and rears. Hmmmmm, check the tire date codes, 307, this is a pre 2000 3 digit date code, meaning week 30 year 7...........meaning 1997. Seems to fairly well indicate this bike is really a low mileage specimen. Since it is in the shop cause it has set for a few years (per the story the service manager told me) for carb work, I gave the SM my card and he said he would ask the owner for me if it was for sale......sure could use a spare parts bike.....
