Just curious.......what other hobbies do you guys and girls like to do?

Motorcycle riding is my main hobby, but I also hunt and fish.   My favorte other hobby is kayak fishing in the surf of the Gulf of Mexico .   We go offshore about 1 mile and catch bull reds and sharks.   Went yesterday and I caught 3 sharks about 4 ft long and my nephew caught 2 about the same.    I know you folks have other things you like to do......what are they?

I do carpentry, I usually find family or friends that need help and go and help them.  I have been doing it since I was 7 years old working with my dad.  To me it's relaxing.  I also build kitchen cabinetry in the cooler months.  I have a full shop that I built a few years ago.  I like to keep busy but not crazy busy.

Guns, shooting, reloading. (Although I don't hunt. Nothing against it, just never have)

Renaissance Faires

Saltwater Reef Aquariums (I've got a 500 gallon total system volume, 300 gallon main display in wall reef tank with a fish room)

Computers and networking (All pictures I post on these sites are hosted on a Linux virtual machine running on my home servers.)

And last, but definitely not least my kids...

Went yesterday and I caught 3 sharks about 4 ft long and my nephew caught 2 about the same.

Inquiring minds, kayak is not a big boat, so you pull 4' sharks into the boat?  Video please.  LOL

PS, this does sound like great fun.

Staying in Key Wierd West one winter on a 60 foot boat, we would fish from a Sunfish (sometimes called an ironing board with a handkerchief) in the harbor.  One sailor and one fisherman off the rear.  Because of all the shrimp boats there, huge game fish trolled the harbor.  Used 200 lb test on a short rod, would catch some giant fish and had to sail to shore or the big boat to club it, so we could eat it.

Like this, only smaller

Mine is photography, high-speed photography and creating things sometimes do some sewing, the thing I do the most is riding my mountain bike on the Mich. trails called Metro Trail.  Unfortunately I can only do 20-24 mile  in a day, getting old an running out of gas. But still like beating the heck out of my body. Interesting I seen my first deer on the trail today.

Home ownership maintenance and repair is not a hobby, it's a freekin PITA, but it occupies a good deal of my time.

Firearms, old and new, and all the stuff that goes with them.

we catch them, fight them, let them pull us around for a while to wear them out, then when they are tired we pull their heads out of the water next to the boat and either cut the line, or work the hook out.   yesterday i managed to get 4 out of 5 hooks out of their mouths taking a moderate risk of having my hand so close to their mouth, but 1 of them was a fiesty old boy and kept snapping at my pliers so I let him have my hook and cut the line.  the young guy is my nephew but the older guy is a pic of a fish I caught a couple yrs agofun sport.

I used to have hobbies, then I had kids.  Now my kids are getting bigger (7 and 5) and they are interested in my RC planes that hang on the wall in the basement.  I might have to dig them out sometime soon.  I was also big into RC cars (indoor carpet racing) with my little brother before he died in a motorcycle crash 10 years ago.  Between his stuff and mine, I probably have close to $10 grand in RC racing equipment between the cars, batteries, motors, etc. just sitting in my basement.  I'd like to get back into it with my kids, but that hobby has pretty much dried up around here.  All the tracks are gone.  There might be one still in Wheeling, WV, but that is over an hour away and they race too late at night for my kids (or at least they used to).  Here's a few of my cars...

Old cars; fast cars (actually pretty much everything with wheels); Bicycling; Photography; Computers; Woodworking; and most important, ANYTHING TO DO WITH MY FAMILY AND GRANDCHILDREN.

The last item often makes time for all the others hard to find! Smiley

Mountain bike riding. I had a heart attack last June, so I started riding as soon as the Dr.'s said I could. Pretty hooked on it now. I have a Specialized Hardrock mountain bike, and a lot of trails and open desert to ride in right behind my house. Good fun.

Work, work, work...  When I'm not working, I'm chief cook & bottle washer at home.  My boys pitch in with cleaning and basics, but I do the cooking, laundry, and 'Dad' style cleaning  Wink .  I like to fish when I can, but that cuts in to time I could be riding the bike...  My real passion is woodworking...  I love to take a hunk of wood, and see something hidden inside, and make it happen.  Small furniture, home repair/remodel, projects for friends.  Just redid the fireplace & mantel in my living room (replaced modern looking light Oak and light ceramic tile).  Was looking for something more rustic...

Next project on the list is a complete redo of the first floor bathroom...  Lotsa ideas, very little time  Undecided

My guilty pleasure, is sitting on the deck, XM Deep Tracks playing, and enjoying a couple fingers of a good scotch  cooldude

Carpentry.....

And collecting BEER CANS!

Rule of the collection... I can only put cans on the shelf that I have drank (at least some of it)

Ride the rest of the time........

Oh.... and to add to the rest... Bourbon... Blanton's is a favorite.

I forgot fishing. Ya gotta drive for two hours to get wet here.
I bought a load-o-fishing gear at the swap meet and there it sits. I picked up a real nice 17' Viking. Get that, a VIKING!! With two motors, and when it rains, she gets wet.
There is of course the Bourbon. The National spirit and the preffered libation of Gentlemen.
Of course riding, but that goes without saying here.

Alpine skiing has been a hobbie since I was a kid.  I ski just about every weekend in the east, with a few west coast trips and try to get on an Alps trip.  I ski more days now than ever. Guess you would say, I'm a ski addict.

Firearms, deer hunting with bow, rifle, muzzle-loader and occasionally handguns. Winter camping and deer hunting. Reloading. Repairing and customizing my own firearms. (No longer have an FFL)  I'm currently learning to operate a large, 1964 Cincinnati Hydrashift lathe and am building a new shop so I'll have room for a mill and the other lathe we have already bought. I plan on getting my FFL back after the shop is built and opening a gunsmith/machine shop with my son Andy.

well, where do i start?

i have a problem were i take up a hobby, then after i master it, i move on to something else.

i've done wood working, RC cars and RC aircraft (made a couple of planes out of downspouts and Styrofoam and they flew!!) photography, small engine repair, traveling, and the latest now is metal detecting.  just bought a Whites DFX metal detector.  the wife thinks it funny 'cause i've torn up our back yard already and it's only a month old!!  i've found about 50cents in coin and a lot of little pieces of metal, nothing worth anything just little pieces of metal two to three inches long by 1/2 inch wide.  have no idea what they're for either.

here's a photo of one of my bowls i've made.  i entered it in a state fair competition and lost third place to a plywood cut out lawn ornament of Sylvester the cat!!  my wife went and talked to the judge that did the judging and she said it was store bought, my wife told her that she had no idea what she was looking at!!

freshwater fishing mostly panfish, canoeing,  and ATVing and use to be deer hunting but haven't gone in years, lost interest pretty much.

I think Digger doing kayaking fighting sharks would be pretty cool to try, something definitely challenging and for sure fun.

My Valk is my current main hobby....

But I used to think that I was going to grow up one day (still working on the growing up part) to be a rock god......and I used to play my Fender Telecaster alot, but that dream faded and I sold the Telecaster and amp a few years ago.

My other hobby is currently on hiatus, but plan to pick it back up soon.......
