I have an Acura TL that has developed a strange vibration.  I can feel a slight vibration like the tire is unbalanced on the right front during acceleration.  It happens at different speeds but appears to be about 2K on the tach.  The wheels are balanced.  I'm thinking, similar to a u-joint on the valk, that this is a pending axle assembly failure.  Both boots are intact as far as I can see and feel without removing them.

Any thoughts on if I am guessing right or what else it might be?

When I had a honda prelude, I had a jboot go bad on it after 100k + miles.   Don't recall the rpms that it started vibrating on but I took it to a mechanic.. they did a visual inspection.. didnt' see anything.. had the mech go ride with me in the car.. it started vibrating and he knew exactly what it was.. that jboot.

Didn't see mileage posted but pull the wheel and rotor and give the hub a wiggle.  May be the bearings gone, especially if making noise while turning.

jboot??? What the hell is a jboot?

Those are CV joints and if the boot that cover them are good, there should be no problem with them.

Get a road force balance on the front tires and you should be good to go. There is a difference.

Mileage is 88K.  I would not think it is anywhere near mileage for failure, but not all axles are created the same.

Not familiar with what a jboot is.

Will pull the wheel and rotor and check bearings as well.

If the drive axle is the issue, do you have to drain the transmission to change it out?

Thanks for the input!
