Hey all, new to the forum here. Never really gotten much involved with the group, but I figured it's about time.
I'm a 15 year rider/owner of a '97 red/white Valkyrie. She broke 50k miles not to long ago, yet still running strong. My father and I bought it used with just a few thousand miles on it in spring of '97. It's easy to forget the impact this bike had on the motorcycle scene back then. Not very hard to find some good running, high HP "relatively" comparable cruisers these days, but this thing still runs with the best of them even now. (preaching to the choir, I know, lol)
I've been cross country maybe 6 times on this bike, and that's just myself. My father has taken it a few times as well. 15 years of owning a bike is a long time, and I always seem to think it's about time to upgrade from it. Then I ride it. How? Anything short of a Vmax won't be anymore fun, and if it has the same kinda power it does, it won't deliver it as smoothly or as uniquely as the flat 6 does. My only gripe that new bikes have that I wish I could create on my Valkyrie would be an efficient EFI system. But considering 6 carbs are still singing the same pitch for 15 years, can't really complain about that either.
There's plenty more I could write of 15 years of owning this bike, but don't want to bore you to much. Mods to list, and the issues I've had with it is a very short list. I look fwd to meeting up with some fellow riders soon. Valkyries were always rare bikes, but they're becoming even fewer and further in between. Keeping them alive!

Oh my, I so remember Custer Hill. Good times back then. Spent a lot of time down range in that (at the time) I was a Fire Support Officer and supported three different battalions of Armor/Infantry and also went out with my own Artillery unit. Rode a KZ1000 back then but knew the first time I saw and then rode a Valkyrie I wanted one. There's some good folks in your area, get to know them and ride with them. I'll be back there in July, have to cut my Inzane visit short but, gotta go back and visit Mom and a few relatives so I don't get cut out of the will. Take care and ride safe.

Welcome to the VRCC Board, and the Kansas Board. Lots of good people here in the VRCC, It's a very diverse interesting group. There are several of us active in the area not too far from you, we try and get together on an irregular and often impromptu basis. We look forward to seeing you soon.
