Bump.

Start at the TA Truck stop I-30 and 205 in Rockwall.  Friday, August 3rd. Meet at 9:15PM, KSU at 9:45PM.

South on 205 to 276
East on 276 thru Quinlan and then over Lake Tawakoni and to Emory.
South on 69 for a few, then east on County Road 2795 (Lake Fork Drive)
Continue to the split, then take County Road 515 east.  This becomes FM 515.
Go over Lake Fork Reservoir, then South on 154 to Quitman.
Turn south on 37
37 merges into 69 north of Mineola.
Continue south on 69 thru Mineola and Lindale towards Tyler.
Reach the Tyler loop.
Turn right, loop around the city on the west until we reach the IHOP on the other end of town.

Should arrive 2 hours 10 minutes after KSU, or about Midnight.

Will request tables together once we get a final count in Rockwall.

Need a headcount.

I'm out as well.  Sold the house with a quick close so we are in "hectic" mode for the next 20 days.
Add to this, getting our student off to college.  I'm too old for this type of schedule.

As there are no takers, maybe it's best to cancel this ride.  Will reschedule.

I know, John.  Cry  But it would have been just Don Quixote and Sancho fighting the windmills.

We need reinforcements!

At the meeting on the 9th, I'll get some feedback and ideas on where people want to go and when.  This first ride was trying to kickstart the club back into taking rides and I had it in my folder ready to go.  I think the September ride will end up a bit more popular, but we'll see what people are thinking first.

As for thee, we'll get down to Tyler before much longer.

That's what we find out on the 9th. We need to find out what the group wants.  It's voluntary and democratic. Maybe too soon after Inzane.  Maybe too hot.

Time will tell, Brother Blue.

It was 107 Wed & Thu when I got home from work 4:30-5:00p, and a relatively cool 101 Friday.  It's no fun at all for me at those temps and even the short 22-mile return commute is taxing.  Heck, it was already warmer than ideal when I left for work at 6:20a.

My personal combo platter consists of 1) I prefer not to ride at night, 2) the proposed KSU is within an hour or so of my school night bed time, 3) the estimated return home is within two hours of my M-F wake up, 4) I don't want to be riding home at 3-4:00a pushing having been awake 24 hours, and 5) I still prefer not to ride at night.

Nothing at all personal, folks, but I'm a fairly certain non-participant in any future moonlit rides.  Gotta keep my streak alive!

Bottom line is I can't wait for cooler temperatures.  Texas summers suck.  Our brothers and sisters to the north park their bikes for the winter while we ride.  I'm a future candidate for parking mine from mid-June through mid-September.

I agree with most of what Disco said:

1) I prefer not to ride (alone-coming/going) at night, 2) the estimated return home is within two hours of my M-F wake up, 3) I don't want to be riding home at 3-4:00a pushing having been awake 24 hours  , and 4) I do not do well in the heat .  Been 90 here after dark (10:00ish), when I would have to leave here to get to Rockwall.

Going to play the "female" card here.  I don't use that card very often.  Do not feel safe riding alone, on 75 or back roads [Hwy 69, hwy 160, Hwy 78, Hwy  205, to 30] at those hours-coming or going.

OKay, I'll admit it, I'm a sissy. Embarrassed

These are all good things to know.  I personally love to ride at night and in the summer, with the 100+ days, it's the only time to ride, IMHO.  Riding on Friday night hopefully would have eliminated work issues for most.  As for the bed time issues, well, I hadn't thought of it.  I may be more of a night owl than you guys Cheesy

But I'm one piece of the puzzle, one cog in the machine.  We'll discuss more on Thursday.

I will not, usually, ride at night. I know it is very dangerous, at least, for me.
I don't mind riding short distances such as to and from monthly meetings but that depends on the route.

My preference for 1/2 day rides are Saturday mornings KSU.
