Al ain't a troll.

You might not like his position on HD's or Car Tires... but it's tongue in cheek I think.

I'd be willing to bet... old Al would come to my rescue if I need him to.

Al... I am gonna be drinkin tequila in Arkansas... You're welcome to join me.

You are right on Jabba, I would bail you out.

But as far as the Tequila, I don't think you drink and you have a good reason.

But if your serious, I 'll share a headache with you. Cause you will have one on that stuff.

Thanks for the vote of Confidence, it is all just to have fun and converse with people all over this great land and beyond.

This is a cut-and-paste from Wikipedia:

In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory,[2] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[3] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[4] The noun troll may refer to the provocative message itself, as in: "That was an excellent troll you posted."

Troll is not a description of whether one is a good or bad person, whether he would come to your aid, or whether one would like to share a drink with him.  It's not a description of how many posts one has or how old or new one is on a board.

It's a designation of message board behavior.  Some of us really like Al.  Some of us have enjoyed good times with Al.  His posting behavior on this board definitely fits the definition above, at least part of the time.  the post at the beginning of this thread qualifies.

Generously I guess one could say that Al is at least a part time troll.  Not all Americans agree on this designation.

I simply stated a small item is better than all the other releases I can think of in life.

Exact Words

Try this, a motorcycle instead.

Yes it was a Harley Video.

Harleys seem to torque you folks up.

But try a motorcycle was my intent.

Please if Harleys offend you look the other way.

Or grow up.

That was the only video I could find that tells the story I was trying to convey. Take a look again.

Get your motor runnin,,,,,,,,,,,could be a Triumph or Honda.
Head out on the highway,

Head out on the highway,

I'm noticing this forum has a lot of things that " torque people".

Anyway I have always been a Honda man. I have been influenced by my ole lady and my brothers to expand my motorcycle thinking. (very hard with my closed mindedness) I purchase a Harley V-rod last fall, and  besides the solid wheels, the bike is fast, nimble one you get use to the rake, and fun to ride. I still take my Valk on long trips, but I'm glad I tried a different motorcycle and I'm enjoying the experience.

It's been a long time since Honda get people into motorcycling with "You meet the nicest people on a Honda"   Since then, Honda has sorta given up on that kind of advertising, IMO.

Al's postimg of the Harley commercial is a good example why Harleys sell.  Harley Davidson takes a back seat to no one when it's about motorcycle advertising.  It's what they do.  Maybe they didn't invent motorcycles, but due to the relative advertising silence of all the other brands, theirs stand out.

Who else could sell, sell, and sell, an air cooled bike of modest horsepower at a high price to people that want to ride because of their advertising.., Never mind that some have the attitude but not the skills.

To me, Honda hasn't shown any enthusiasm lately in either their advertising or products . I believe that Honda is one of the best brands out there. but moving their Marysville production back to Japan shows their corporate image to be not what Joe Boyd envisioned.

Big Al, I saw the point that you were trying to make and I'd ride with you anytime but I would hold you and Joe back so I'd ride at the back of the group, LOL.

I agree with your perception for US advertising and promoting of cruisers. Harley Davidson owns 29% of all motorcycles sold in the US, Honda owns 25%. Honda has sport turning, sport, and dirt bikes which Harley tried with Buell but failed miserably. Honda has been the number one sold motorcycle (measured by units) in the world for years.

While Harley Davidson seems to have more aggressive advertising, they only advertise to a specific group of people, in many fewer countries. I’m sure (in my opinion) dollar for dollar Honda has just as much advertising. It is just spread out across more countries and audiences,  causing the US cruiser audience to have your perception.

You have a point although I wouldn't say 'cruiser' market only. .  I would say road bikes in general.  I don't ride a cruiser.

Getting back to the original post, I have to agree with BigAl.  These people would be better of spending that money on a bike.  Like someone said before, you don't see motorcycles parked outside a psychiatrists office....unless it's the psychiatrists bike.

It don't matter what you ride...as long as you do.

Not sure what you mean by "Road bike", I would interpret that as anything with plates on it.  Sure you could argue that the V-rod is not a cruiser. Other then that what bikes does Harley make that's not a Cruiser? Unless you are including Touring bikes which I could see you point.

Sport touring, sport, and dirt bikes are road bikes, but I wouldn't consider them part of the "Cruiser" Community.

Getting back to the original post.

I apologize if I (we) seem to fallen off topic. Most conversations/forums tend to stray to related conversations/topics. keeps the conversation going.

How did this become a Harley war cry?  I read this as:

"instead of spending money on life coaches, buy a motorcycle and ride."   I agree.  It's certainly therapy for me to ride.

As for Harleys - they are motorcycles.  Lots of people ride them.  Some ride them well, some are posers, but all of the riders  enjoy the wind, even if only to ride short distances.  How is that different than anyone riding any other brand?

They have excellent marketing.  Honda could learn a lot from the HD marketing group.

Thanks for the post, BigAl.  I liked it.
