Have noticed that of recent rides that the normal bike in neutral clutch out noise is getting louder. Now this morning I noticed what sounded like a bearing clattering while the clutch was out. IT goes away when the clutch is pulled in. Where to start? IS this other post a possibility? http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,42568.0.html. If so is this a job for a good home mechanic? I'm by no means a pro, but know how/can rebuild car engines etc.

I don't know all the proper names for the parts, but, there is a pin between the clutch actuator and the clutch. It comes out when you remove the hydrolic actuator. Needs grease.... That's where I would start, see if that pin needs lubed.

On back of the engine from underneith is 3 bolts. I think the clutch line goes into it. Remove kickstand bracket and them 3 bolts. Pull it out and grease the pin. Fairly easy to do.

Mine had almost no sound with the clutch out. A grinding sound came, when I pulled the clutch from just half an inch and all the way in. After a few seconds in, the sound stopped almost totally.
I´m with Mickvalk on this!
Good luck!

Let me know what you do to rectify this noise and how big a job it is. Mine just started where I can feel a little roughness on clutch lever : clutch out toching lever Pull lever in and smoooth as silk only notice in neutral. Plan on doing over winter unless it gets worse. Thanks

Not very hard at all. Put Valk up on jackstands, pulled the kickstand assembly ( I'm lazy, used air tools) Pullled the 3 bolts for the slave cylinder, greased the little pushrod thingy and reversed disassembly. So far so good....

Glad I found this, just noticed the same thing with mine this spring. I was worried it was an issue with the clutch rivets or some other horrible problem. Looking forward to getting this fixed this weekend.

Thanks young pup for bringing this up. I thought that the roughness I felt and heard in neutral with the clutch out did'nt seem right. If simply lubing the push rod quites it down , wonderful. And Junior, apparently there is enough clearence to get that 1 bolt out without removing the kickstand bracket?

Glad this helped ya! Almost a year later and still all good. I've talked with a few people afterwards and it seems that pulling the kickstand is a case by case basis. Good luck.

Young Pup, since this is a wet clutch do you need to drain the oil before pulling the clutch slave cylinder to lube the push rod? Apparently the push rod does not come in contact with the lube oil?
