Syria? They have a "government" with a "President" and they have "elections". But when the people won't be heard and they protest in the street the government cracks down with force. When the discent continues the force is increased. When discent turns to rebellion the government starts using deadly force to quell the uprising, to the point of civil war.

I really know little of the strife in Syria and the inner workings of it's politics. But I watch how our government is changing and how power seems to be moving away from the citizen. I see citizens so concerned about "what's good for me" and "how can I milk the system" that they have zero regard for the generations to follow. Are there enough citizens left that can think and reason for themselves to know that the government is not going to be able to take care of everyone cradle to grave? I cannot name one congressman or senator that I believe would put the countries interests before there own. I hope there are some out there.

Could we get to the point where our government is so corrupt that people will protest for the ouster of it's leaders? Could our government, in the name of perserving peace and maintaining order, use deadly force?

Silly?  I don't know.

If the shysters in office care more for themselves and their money than the people that put them there-than yes it could and probably will happen.  Some folks can't see past the tip of their own nose. And the folks in D.C. seem to think that enough of the people drink the koolaid-well o'bummer is president. If he is elected for another term i shudder to think what this ONCE fine nation will become after this talkin turd is done with his agenda. Can this be turned around?? Get some folks in office that not only believe but also practice-a government of the people and by the people. I'd like to believe that-i really would. If we don't impeach him now than lets VOTE this sumbitch out in November. Glad i'm not in the service now-he WOULD not be MY C I C.

The really sad thing in this equation is that the people that recognize the problem seem to be the older generation.  The younger generation seems to be consumed with the idea of whats in it for me!  Then again they don't see a future in this country and that explains their attitude. If this knucklehead gets elected in November we all might have to sell our Valks (valk related Willow) and move to New Zealand.  At least there all you have to worry about is earthquakes!   Sad Sad Linedog
