I'm not a fan of the " flashing " light...I drive for a living ( Heavy hauler over-size loads ) and in my world a " flash " of the headlight means GO FOR IT.
And that's exactly the opposite of what it SHOULD mean. All too often, someone gives up the right of way by flashing their head lights to the oncoming motorist. I ignore it. I'll even beckon them to step on the gas and go because I ain't moving. Had two women flash me to give up the right of way and just as I hit the throttle, they moved forward and scared the crap out of me. No more, not gonna take that chance a third time. I only flash to warn, never to give up the right of way. In the general driving public, you are right. However, in the world of the professional driver, a quick flash of the headlights DOES mean I am giving my right of way to you. It is how it is done. We have NO other way to let the other trucker know to go. I do realize it means something different to cars, so I do not do it then, or I do not trust the reaction as much. MP |

the flashing headlights i have seen (although only a couple ) looked to me like the bike was having stator problems It pulled my eyes to the bike without thinking about it . Back in the day when i started driving knowone had running lights or headlights on in the day, If you saw someone with thier lights on the first thing you thought was what was wrong with that idiot ,or it was a funeral and better slow down and pull over to show respect
But you noticed the car
I am going to purchase one , can always remove it if i don't like it . My concern was does it cause harm to the electrical or the light it's self

I'm convinced that this problem started with the mandatory headlight requirement.. It appears to me that folks lose their depth perception when they see it and believe the bike is farther away than it is..
The modulators seem to attract attention,, but,, I don't have much of an opinion about them other than I don't like them.. But,, thats just my kinda useless opinion..

The paperwork that came with my modulator said, It has no effect on the life expectancy of the bulb. |

I'm sure it's legal, but it's legal to split lanes in California too. that don't make it smart in my book. when i got my 1st bike on the road in 74 the light blinked until i fixed the 32 yr old wiring.

lots of people swear by them.

Ok Tankpost....You think they should be illegal. You've stated it is not smart to use them. So why don't you write your Congressman, Senators, and try to get the law changed so you can protect all of us "not smart" people that are using them. |

I must not be very smart then, Not only do I have a headlight modulator, I split lanes too. On my Goldwing.......... And my Valkyrie. On my KLR, I just go over the cars.........  |
