I have a 2001 Valk IS. The faring is so close to the handle bars it hit when going over bumps. Is there a way to adjust the faring?
Second issue- I have developed a squeek between 30 and 40 Mph(@ least thats when I hear it). Seems to be on shaft side. Any ideas??? wheel bearing???,.

If you rotate the handlebars be sure to put a cushion on the tank, like a folded towel.  You will, dent the tank when the bars drop after the last bolt comes loose..

Have you looked for the squeak ?? It could be a shock bushing as well as many other things..

The squeak as you describe it sounds like rear wheel bearings to me...

When you hear the noise, take your fully prepared water pistol and spray the rear brake caliper and rotor.

The noise should disappear if it is rear brake related, which is what I think it is.

Do more "Oh that!" investigation.  Precious little information up till now.

When my left rear wheel bearing went out, it sounded like something was chewing rocks whenever I applied the rear brakes.

It sure as heck didn't squeak.

Chewing rocks was exactly the noise I got from mine too (with steel teeth).   cooldude

as for the fairing. take off the speaker panels. (watch the brass inserts). check the mounting brackets (4). anything bent/loose?
do you have aftermarket risers. could they have been put on backwards? should lean toward the rear.

It's not the handle bars it's the handle bar riser it self.

If you're able to post a picture here of the problem area, it'll make life much easier for the gurus of the board (I'm not one of them) to diagnose it.   Wink
