I drove on several miles of fresh chip seal last weekend and as a consequence have several spots of asphalt in some tight places that are not coming off.  I tried gunk, acetone, and nothing cuts it. If anyone has dealt with this issue I would like to know what chemicals you used, if any.

I hate that stuff..... not the WD40, those tar/chip roads.   They should come back and make sure they remove the excess chip stones too.

+1000 on the WD-40.  Soak and resoak.  Also gets gum out of your kid's hair.

Although the W D 40 should not fail. But if it do-plain old disel fuel will remove the crap. That was how we cleaned up our white colored trucks when we hauled hot mix. RIDE SAFE.

I've always had good luck with lighter fluid.

Me and Michael P were riding to the VOA rally in LaCrosse one year and somewhere in rural Illinois we were stopped for road work.  When they waved us on we ended up being two cars behind the truck spraying the tar and then after that, fresh chips.  By the time we got through it, my swing arm looked like a nutty butty.  Ten years later, I'm still finding bits of tar here and there.

If you can get your hands on some Isopar, it will take it off like it's wet mud.

I used to work at a Honda shop part time putting bikes together, once together I would wash then in diesel fuel to get the Vaseline(type stuff) off them...

The best tar removal stuff I've ever used is Mayonaise. Works better than any commercial tar remover I've ever tried, better than diesel fuel as well as WD40..though I always wonder what it does to your insides!!!!
Glad I don't eat that stuff..

the diesel fuel is an excellent one too, same as lighter fluid.  i would really NOT recoment Acetone.  it'll strip the paint off.

my mother in law use to use mayo to clean her house plants.  she hated when i would come over and rip off a leaf or two and make a sandwich......

I am glad to report back that WD-40 did the trick with a bunch of elbow grease, Mayo, I haven't seen real mayonase in years. Thanks for all the tips.
