He'll be in and out of court for months, maybe years.  He'll get the best defense lawyers because of the high visibility and ensuing fame, wrongfully placed.   He won't get the death sentence.  It'll cost the taxpayers lots of money.

In short, a win win situation for him.  A lose lose thing for everyone else.  The victims will be forgotten.

See if I'm right.

(Slightly off topic, but kinda on topic, giving the guy more credit than he deserves but)

The guy seems to know his stuff about Bat Man. He's intelligent and no dummy.

He's purporting to be The Joker.

He dyed his hair red.

The Joker had green hair.

There is, however, a Batman villain who DOES have red hair - The Riddler...

Wondering if this guy has something else up his sleeve, if he is playing out a real life fantasy of being a Batman super villain...

Unfortunately.... I have to agree with you.  It would have been better for everyone if a Moviegoer had a CCW and put him out of his misery before the death/injured toll got as high as it did.  But, I think it would be fitting if he were to be punished by his own weapons/bullets...

Intelligent or dumb as a box of rocks., it makes no difference.   No amount of flamboyant behavior based on today's "entertainment"  will bring back the victims.

At the end of WWII, Mussolini and his mistress were killed and hung upside in a public area until they rotted.  That might be a deterrent to any arsehole that lives in LaLa land and decides to kill people so that they might get their "Claim to Fame'

Won't happen tho.   The killer might even write a book during his lifetime imprisonment (well, maybe not lifetime).

I haven't read if he was on drugs (perscription or other) prior to the shooting but for sure they weren't working in a positive mannor. Too bad a friend or relative couldn't have alerted authorities of his latest obsession in time to stop this tradgity.

I guarantee you when this guy began planning this massacre he shut out contact with friends, associates, classmates, family, etc. From what I've read this guy had to have been planning this for a long time...months at least. In order to supply himself with ammo, guns, explosives, battle armor, etc. would have been impossible to achieve in just a few short days or weeks. No, this guy is not crazy or deranged. This was a carefully thought out and planned event...premeditated for sure. That fact makes an insanity defense almost impossible IMO.

And yes, he will be hovered over by experts trying to find the root cause or excuse away his murderous rampage because of some childhood traume or something of that nature. The state of Colorado will end up spending millions for justice, when it would have been much simpler for a cop's service weapon to "accidentally discharge" and blow his head off while he was in the back seat of the patrol car.

England did that to Pirates.  Not sure which body of water, but the trade route heading into an English port had pirates hung in birdcages as they rotted so that "would-be" pirates could see their fate.

still waiting for the copy cat dude to respond...a public death may slow this type of thing down as long as they do it the first week so people see what will happen...
