Gettin ready to do put a new rear tire on and gonna teardown and inspect all relevant parts and pieces on the rear end of my 1999 interstate.ive done a search but have been unable to locate all washers and o-rings for routine maintenance replacement.this is my first valkyrie service and have taken the hint that its a good idea to order parts in advance so my bike aint stuck on the lift till parts arrive.what im after are oem pieces and part numbers.thanks in advance

Go to carolinabikeandtrike.com and order their final drive o-ring kit and you will have 5 sets of the o-rings you need.  I replace the o-rings every time.  These OEM parts are nice to have if you need them: rear brake pads- 06435-MBY-671; thrust washer- 42616-MAJ-G20; rear bearing- 91052-MAE-004; rear bearing- 91053-MN5-003; dust seal- 91253-443-762; damper set- 06410-MBH-000.  These part numbers are from directlineparts.com and most of us do it urselfer's try to keep these parts around if needed.  Look up the article in Shop Talk and follow the directions for proper rear wheel maintenance.  Let us know if you need anything else.  I forgot to add you may want a 90 degree chrome steel valve stem to replace the rubber OEM one and whatever you use to balance tires with- dynabeads, ride-on, weights, etc.

Just wanted to post a follow up to my first valkyriefinal drive inpection and service.i went ahead and ordered all relevent parts and pieces ahead of time and squeezed every last mile i could past the wear bars on the tire before tearing into her.i went ahead and built the lift adapter suggested in shoptalk,it worked out just fine.everything disassembeld as hoped with no bad surprises.all splines looked great no problems. I put new dampners in and reassembled relevant splines with belray assembly and grease where needed. There really were no surprises and the search archives and shoptalk sections made this job easy.thanks to all of you who take the time to post to your much valued tech experience.later, rider

Sounds like it went well.  As long as you put grease inside the female splines and not just on the male (flange) and then tightened the four final drive nuts AFTER torquing the axle, then you have it set to go for at least 10K miles

Jeff's slide show is on the Shoptalk link at the top of this page.  Open Shoptalk......under the "tech tips" (on the left hand side of the page)........about 2/3's of the way down you'll find......."Rear End Service by ChrisJ".

Yeah fritz,as bf posted is where i got slideshow info and also did archive search with phrases like final drive maintenance, rear wheel removal etc..and took in a variety of opinions and saw the common sense repetitive techniques in conjunction with my own mechanical abilities and proceeded.jabba yes the driveshaft came outta the pinion cup sloppy wet and again after reading various search archives talking about the passageways at the bottom of the cup i cleaned the cup taking my time and and made sure passage ways were clear.
